He'll not last 6 months.

He'll either spit the dummy over something and leave, or will be punted for saying something which embarrasses Trump/GOP.

Musk will end up getting popped if he pisses off the wrong folk.

My opinion of Musk has been low for years and years, going back to his union busting and his bypassing safety engineering on his self-driving vehicles, but I think I have some idea why he's gone particularly loony this week.

Trump's loyal MAGA toadies, like those involved in Project 2025 (which Trump knows nothing about but whose authors all seem strangely involved in his transition and future admin), hate immigrants and want to shut down all the programs that sponsor them, full stop. But Musk's companies rely heavily on H-1B visas, which allow for companies to sponsor highly trained immigrants. Musk recruits them, overworks them, lays them off to satisfy Wall St. when his earnings don't look good or when his robot cars kill another person or explode to satisfy, then repeats.

He's gone all-in on opposing H-1B. But this has threatened a "civil war" among the Trumpies between the nativists and the billionaires.

Musk's wealth is almost entirely in Tesla stock, which is the memestock extraordinaire. No other major automaker has anything close to it's price-earnings ratio (roughly, the stock value of the company to the amount of money the company acutally makes). GM's PE is around 7, Honda around 8, Toyota just under 10. Tesla's is 120.

His original business model was hyping to techies and hippies who wanted the fancy electric car. He did his little performance on Twitter to get them to buy into his uber-genius image. When he started getting ignored on Twitter, he bought the company to sort out the nefarious schemes being used to repress his tweets. When that didn't help he had his engineers build in a an algorithmic booster for his own account.

But now his original audience is too "woke" for his union-busting and COVID-precaution-ignoring. So he's found a new crowd to hype, and they're a lot easier to manipulate, it seems. Dance a little with DJT on stage, watch your wealth double! Huzzah!

But he can't run Tesla without the H-1Bs. So he can't capitulate there. Instead, he's still going to try to keep his disposable worker pipeline in operation but quadruple down on far right politics to burnish his credentials with them, otherwise they might catch on that he's just using them.

Probably because it’s hard to be an alpha male when you’re balding and don’t have a chin worth mentioning.

Despite my posting on the US politics thread I'm not Trump and I'm not billionaire politicians.

That said the ongoing bitterness and for communities in Northern England it isn't a far right brotherhood.

And it is shameful the way children were, are and previously let down .

If it's not white privileged beasty *******s.

It's those in charge of state owned child carers.

Church of both faiths.

And a trade off with children and accusations of racism allowed the abuse .

Musk couldn't give a **** about the children raped passed about like meat by the Pakistani rape gangs.

Let's not forget that it's not right v left it's good v wrong.

Why give him any credence?

FFS Cade don't buy into this .

The light should be shone on the politicians, institutions who let down the children who were systematically raped .

The twisting and turning of every politician to suit their own agenda.

Let's talk straight here.

This hasn't been dealt with .

Not too the satisfaction of the children raped.

That's the only ****in truth here.

And there's no left or right here.

FFS.

I've two really good mates from Rotherham, I've know the dad for 35 years and his son since he was born, it was fairly common knowledge what was going on but, despite concerns being raised numerous times, nothing was done for fear of upsetting the Pakistani community.

Telford was the same, the goings on in Keighley are still largely to come to light

A national scandal, truly sickening.

And far right too I suspect.

To hear the PM call people who voice concerns about children being groomed and raped as "far right" today was unbelievable.

I wonder if given the chance, he'd call the father of a girl who was a victim of a grooming gang a "far right racist" to his face on TV?

Every one should be jailed, but Tazio, not one in that list had their crimes ignored and brushed under the carpet because of their race or religion.

I know of one rape gang, they preyed on children, held satanic rituals, all that bad stuff, but they're white.

Certainly not, but let’s not pretend that there isn’t a racial motivation to a lot of those shouting loudest. Using a tragic set of repeated circumstances a a stick to further hatred shouldn’t be a thing. It should be from genuine concern for the many victims.

Posted (edited)

There's a fair number of (white) Britain First and EDL boys serving very long prison terms for kiddy fiddling.

Be wary of those making the loudest noise. Every accusation is a confession with these people.

Mr Tate himself is out of prison now but being held under house arrest pending trial for underage sex trafficking.

It's rife in society. It's got zero to do with race or religion.
As with all rape, it's a power thing in which weak people attempt to assert dominance over a victim just so for one fleeting second they feel more powerful than someone else.

Then it's back to being a bitter wee loser again until they find a new victim.

You are far more likely to be sexually assaulted by a friend or family member than anyone else and this applies even more strongly when children are involved.

Most certainly, there is an additional problem of institutions acting to protect the institution instead of protecting the victims.

This applies to social care providers, the entertainment industry as a whole (don't pretend the BBC is any worse than the rest of them), the Royal Family (recently paid someone off because Andy is a sex beast), Politicians of all parties (Teresa May managed to "lose" a hefty dossier of historical abuse claims against MPs when she was Home Sec), the Armed forces, the Church (quietly moving beasts around to new parishes each time complaints were made), the Police and many other public institutions in equal measure.
In the private sector, victims are gotten rid of, forced to sign NDAs and the stories are covered up by injunctions, lest the company suffer any negative press.

Fixing that kind of attitude is a big ask, when it's been cover-up after cover-up for decades (or centuries).
