I really don't think he did I'm afraid. He will, and he'll start scoring goals again, I've no concern about that. But his form is poor and has been each game this season. He gives the ball away far far too often and we can't built through or around him. In moments of poor form, he needs to simplify his game. Stop trying to be so clever, challenge for the headers instead of his "use his body move" and then use your body properly when you get the ball. His CRAZY throw-in across the pitch the Kingsley was indicative of how he's playing just now - trying daft, high risk, low reward stuff. What won't stop is his finishing - how well and composed he was for his two chances last night for example, that'll never change and there are few better. Either one of them could have gone in, and he couldn't have done much more with them really Not a go at Shanks and I feel I'm saying the above too much - no agenda from me here, he's still working hard and despite what a couple might be implying, you can see he cares. I just want him to, as I say, make it more simple and let us play off him more at the moment, that's what taking responsibility would look like imo. To say he played well last night I just can't agree with. Quote

Other than that think he's been fine tbh, maybe not top form but just needs a goal to get him going IMO Quote

Would like to see us giving him more opportunities though. He didn’t start scoring regularly till late October after a consolation goal in the 3-1 defeat against Celtic, he couldn’t stop after that early days .. Quote

He’s been the same his whole career. Goes 10 games without a goal and then everything he hits goes in for a few months. (It’s frustrating others don’t step up when he’s off his game mind) Edited August 23, 2024 by King prawn Quote

Selleck have a pretty clear recruitment model which involves signing players they have a chance of recouping their investment on. Unfortunately for us and Shanks his transfer value isn’t so much now (age related) and his sell on in a couple of years time is even less. Quote

Maybe he enjoys his summer a be it too much and takes a month to get upto speed. Who really cares if he bang's 30 goals in between now and May. Quote
db211833 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 The lack of respect shown to our top scorer since Robbo, two years on the trot, is staggering. Quote

To say he played well last night I just can't agree with. You’ve nailed it. He’s currently in Bruno Fernandes territory. Frustrated, pissed off, trying waaaaaaaaaay too hard. Peak Shanks is pretty intuitive. Like he sees the flight of the ball into the net just as the ball is passed to him. Currently feels like he’s changing his mind as he hits it. Trying to force things. Would imagine if he scores on Sunday, folk will hear it back in Gorgie. Quote

AllyjamboDerbyshire Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Straight from the (Belgian) horse's mouth, TRFC have no money to sign anybody, so if you were wondering why there's been silence over Shanks going to Ibrox since the opening fixture, well here's your answer, not that there was ever a chance of them signing him before that fixture, anyway. Note, not one question regarding Shankland from the press either, so they know, they've always known. They just dance to whatever tune is coming from Ibrox, and always have. https://x.com/i/status/1826977514872287397 Quote
