Good point. He might just be taking a back seat though, if he appears at a press conference for a new signing the focus will end up being Savage rather than the new guy.

Maybe as you say just taking back seat buddy , just when reading the piece on the Website noticed the usual peace from Savage wasn't their

Yeah thats how I am reading it, no point of him giving comments about a player he wont see play so leaving it with Naismith.

Basically , dont have an opinion unless its the same as yours.

:cornette:

It wasn't an opinion, you jumped on someone's error and assumed they were right :smuggy:

Still not followed the conversation from the start I see; still trying to wriggle out of it like there was never anything incorrect about it 🤣

'jog on' 🤣

Top bantz 🤣

Wonder if he's already left because normally when we officially announce a new signing he always has something to say along with naisey but there's nothing from him about Penrice signing

Another signing with no comment from Savage. He'd usually be thanking his counterparts etc.

Hope we hear about a replacement soon.

Savage has been involved in all these signings, no chat within the club about him moving on.

Posted

there's been no mention of him I the new player's interviews either, normally they mention at least speaking to him.

McKinley mentioned at one of the plot ceremonies that he was working his notice I believe, not sure what that will entail

Has the club released any sort of statement regarding the Savage saga yet?

It’s now been 2 months since the news broke - you’d have thought something would’ve got out by now!

If Savage was moving onto another job - you’d think something would’ve got out by now!

I seen that a few folk posted on the forum about our CEO briefly mentioning Savage at a plot ceremony but other than that not a squeak.
I just find it all very strange. 😬

It is very strange but maybe something legally prevents a statement?

It’s not strange at all. Joe has decided to leave and terminate his contract.  He doesn’t have anything else lined up and will be taking a sabbatical for 3/4 months. Why do people feel the club need to release a statement about it and why is it such a saga? People change jobs, leave jobs constantly so I don’t get the scrutiny about Joe.

He did his best for us and has decided to call it a day. Wherever he goes or wherever he ends up then he goes with my best wishes. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for us the way he wanted it to. Good luck Joe!

Just a wee bit disappointing.  Feels like we really have a direction now and he’s been a big part of it. Hes talked about trophies and success and tbh I feel like we are on the verge of something great.

he will have something else in the pipeline imo.  Even if it does require a sabbatical

He doesn’t have anything in the pipeline and the sabbatical is because he’s burnt out. He’s been full on since he joined us. He will have offers no doubt ( taking a guess here) once he decides he’s ready for a new challenge but at the moment he needs and deserves a well earned rest.

I reckon most clubs would release a statement if their Sporting Director left. If anything, it's precisely not doing that which turns it into a saga

I’m not sure what any statement would entail tbh. They’ve made an announcement that he’s leaving so why do they need to elaborate further? As far as I know, only joes boss knows the reason or reasons why he left and they put it out there that he’s decided to leave. Why shouldn’t that be good enough? He moves on and we move on.

Andy Webster will carry some extra payload and Will Lancefield will pick up any slack until the club decide if a sporting director is required or not. Any speculation will be white noise that will disappear through time.

The only announcement on this was made by the Daily Ranger.  Hearts haven’t commented - that’s the strange thing

So why have they been conducting interviews?

Sorry Hearts Standard made an announcement. Even though they’re not endorsed directly through the club, they get their information directly and it’s been well documented through various median that he’s resigned.

The job of a sporting director at our club is probably bigger than a one man job. In the interim two people will pick up the slack vacated by the outgoing incumbent. I’m sure if A.N.Other sporting director is pursued and announced then it won’t be an imminent announcement and therefore a fairly lengthy process will commence to ensure we get the correct candidate if that’s the route the club decides.

I’m sure we have other important agenda to contend with first and foremost.

Why would they decide it isn't required? Or do you mean promote Webster and Lancefield into a new equivalent role with different titles?

He has done the ground work for our signings so far but he has left no need for anybody to gush over him or be an arsehole about him.

Though one of the parties leaked it to the press?  Surely breaks any agreement.

Has he definitely left? assumed he was working his notice. If that is the case it might well make more sense to wait until he has actually gone, along with news of replacement, restructure or whatever.

I would imagine Hearts will only make a statement when Joe Savages notice period is over and he leaves.

I would also imagine the club is hard at finding and hiring his replacement. Wouldn't be surprised if announcement of his replacement happened  when his leaving is announced.

I think that in itself is probably pretty unusual in such a commercially sensitive space, imo.

I'd just have expected something like "Joe Savage has indicated to the club that he will be leaving his role as Sporting Director, he will remain a club employee/continue in his role until 'x' date."

Not expecting in and outs and structure updates, just acknowledging it rather than him suddenly disappearing without a trace is all. The rest, and thanking him etc would be later, of course.

Well it is really.

It's pretty normal for a press release or statement from the club when someone as high profile and involved as JS was leaves a club.

Even a thank you for your efforts type thing, for absolutely nothing to come out the club is definitely strange.

I dont know what is happening, but I would imagine there is a notice period that Joe is going through. When that comes to an end and he actually leaves then I would imagine the club will release the statement thanking him for his service and wishing him well in the future.

I would also say, if it was not true the club would have shot down the rumours already, either contracting journalists or releasing a statement.

So let's assume it's true, because as you said the club would've shot down the rumours if it wasn't.

It's still strange the total silence for me. If a big clubs sporting director is leaving at the end of the season it'd generally in the press well before or they wait until the last games been played.

"He's working his 4 week notice before the club announce he's leaving " isn't normal imo.
