EH11_2NL Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Not a classic by any means but Littler is winning the doubles debate. MVG is scrappy tonight. Can't see him pulling this out of the bag now.

Seaside Dave Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 5_1 though. Littler a jambo he knows what he's at

neilnunb Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Was hoping for a change in commentary during that break.
Seaside Dave Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Hopefully mvg just praise Luke for winning rather than talk about how shit he played etc. just say Luke was the better man on the night and I'll go home work on my darts. Happy new year everyone well done again Luke

Victorian Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 (edited) Reasonable start to his professional darts career then. 😃 I'm not sure he's so far ahead like Taylor that he wins about 10-15 of them, but you never know. Edited January 3, 2025 by Victorian

jamborich Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 Taylor won his first aged 24 Littler has won his first 17, people say there will never be another Phil Taylor I have my doubts this guy phenomenal

Even then he still proved himself against every generation that tried take his mantel. Luke littler is a great player but to do what phil Taylor did takes some amount of dedication and commitment to the sport. Only time will tell but the young man’s got off to a wonderful start to his career.

In darts it was Bristow, then Taylor. MVG looked capable but hasn't quite achieved the level of dominance of the previous two. Littler has age on his side, but we don't know from whom or when the challenge to him will come, nor do we know how he will cope/adapt to maturing while being world champion. All we know is that the standard is getting higher and higher, e.g. no of 180s, 9 darters, double double finishes. There are parallels with snooker, with Davis, Hendry and O'Sullivan. Higgins, Williams and Selby have had their moments while Trump has shown he has the ability, but not the consistency. The general standard is rising, e.g. century breaks and 147s, and several players have demonstrated spells of top form over a few tournaments.
redjambo Posted January 3, 2025 Posted January 3, 2025 It was never in doubt. MvG had a chance to put the pressure on early doors but didn't take it. Both players were noticeably poorer than usual, but Littler finished off much better then MvG. To be honest, it was a pretty dull final, but good on the lad for doing the business.

I don't doubt he will dominate but he is 17 and I think that has actually helped him a lot with the mental side of the game. It's all he has known and cared about so far in life. He has a lot of growing up (not in a negative way) to do over the next 5 years that will determine his future in the sport. Hopefully he handles it well.

The 8 player format is far too repetitive. It's also hardly a "league", when each week is played in a knockout format.
escobri Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 loving big Kev Kyle and "The Arras" series, good Gowser content in this episode.
Mikey1874 Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 2 leg sets at the Masters was certainly interesting. A bit more jeopardy and excitement. Luke Humphries just squeezed it for the win.
escobri Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Another cracker with big Kev and Slaney taking on the Hibs with a familiar scoreline 🤣
Percival King Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Just put the Premier League Darts on, from Dublin, and bizarrely there's a Gorgie Rules sign at the front of the crowd. Those Jambos get everywhere......
neilnunb Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 UK Open started today. Beau Greaves won through 3 games but plays Humphries. Littler currently playing Wright. Been a bit of a stick start to the year from Littler. Not that he's playing badly but others definitely raising their game too.

escobri Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Not seen it mentioned on here but Ross Montgomery won the World Seniors recently keeping the title in Scottish hands after big Hendos win last year.
neilnunb Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Greaves playing well here. Had the chance to go 5-2 up there but first real slip up from her.

neilnunb Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Greaves faded a bit near the end. Maybe a bit of fatigue setting in as 4th game of the day. Did well though. Cannae be arsed with Humphries. Bunting out. 😁
neilnunb Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 (edited) Littler through earlier. Humphries demolished Searle 10-0. 🤣 I mean, they are good pals but not even winning is a new kind of bending over. MvG just knocked out by that angry Welsh boy Owen. Edited March 1, 2025 by neilnunb
neilnunb Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Littler into the final. Clayton match him early doors but then Littler just pulled away once he sorted his doubling out. Will play either Wade or Rock.
