Brilliant. This Hearts squad is taking care of business and beating teams they should beat week in and week out. I know cold streaks follow hot, but he's shown me a lot. Can't say enough about his flexibility with tactics and patience bringing in youth players and giving international arrivals time to settle.

When do Budge and McKinlay consider if they should tie him up with a new contract to help scare off interest from England? I don't think he'll pull a Robbie Neilson and jump for a League 1 side with recent Championship time, but if someone more credible calls, I want to make it hard for him to leave.

Trying to focus on all the good things before I remember we're just months away from another drama cycle about European license issues.

No more 3 year contracts please 🙏

What I like about Naismith is he normally gets subs, the timing of subs and change of formation spot on during games.

You could argue he could have played Atkinson, Oda etc from the start but he picks the team he thinks can win then manages it throughout the game.

Superb stuff from a guy that really gets Hearts and the support. He knows we’re demanding, because we should be.

RN wasn’t able to do this, SN is an upgrade.

Need to lock him down for 5 years and build this squad and his style and see where it goes.

Best manager in almost a generation, we’re VERY luck to have stuck by him and to have him. Thank feck the board do not listen to the pant wetters.  All IMO of course. FTH🍺

That echoes my sentiments exactly. I have said on here that he would turn out to be a  brilliant manager for us and would go on to manage at a higher level. I was absolutely slated by “ Tom Hardy’s Dog” who is noticeable by his absence these days. Naismith was a leader on the pitch for us and led by example to me he was obvious manager material. I am enjoying watching Hearts now more than I have done in years, this is a side that plays for the jersey. I have to admit that players like Forrest , Grant and Oda I was hoping to see leave, but he has improved these players and Forrest in particular has been a revelation.

Happens, it’s Pocket change and can’t be scared forever

Naisy has huge potential, you better believe teams across the U.K. will already be taking notice! He has great pedigree and is well known in England.  got to retain him.

New contract please.

I've seen and heard enough from him that he can see problems and actually tries/does things about them.

He knows what he wants and I'm excited to see the team after another summer window.

Absolutely smashing it

Substitutions were bang on

Suspect the first half was not a mistake but very thought out and second half was all about punishing them with pace and power

No it won't.  That's the whole point of relieving a manager of his duties, you don't sack him and have to pay him off, you keep him on the payroll and continue to pay his salary, basically put him on gardening leave.  If he wants to take a job elsewhere then he has to hand in his notice, so he's resigning rather than being sacked.

I can see a pattern starting to emerge.  In cup games, we win it in the first half then take the feet off the gas, in league games we suss out the opposition in the first half then feck them in the second half.

Humble pie for me 🙋🏻‍♂️

Well done Steven Naismith and all the-back room staff .

Doing an incredible job , got gorgie buzzing again.

Not only did we sell him for far too low a fee, the board also made a complete James Hunt of the sell on fee.  Hibs got £3m for Josh Doig ffs!  Hopefully lessons have been learned.

We sold him for what we could get at the time, and in the circumstances.  Holding on to him for (at best) a shortened season in the Championship wouldn't have done any good for the club or the player.  Hopefully, we'll never be in those circumstances again.

What hibs got for Doig is irrelevant. He wasn't about 9 months away from the end of his contract and Hibs weren't facing a (best case scenario) curtailed season playing in the Championship behind closed doors.

I think he somewhat cocked up the half time changes today, I thought the team looked all wrong from midfield forward right from the 2nd half kickoff, but he absolutely nailed the subsequent changes around the hour mark, and we could have run up a cricket score in that last half hour. I thought Vargas, Oda, Natty and Forrest running at the Motherwell defence were a joy to watch, as was seeing Tait looking like a seasoned pro in the middle yet again, finding space, demanding the ball, and rarely if ever giving it away, and not doing so by always picking the easy, safe pass either, but instead always looking for opportunities to make things happen.  The laddie looks like he's going to be an absolute star!

It depends. Not all contracts do this. Some have clauses that they will pay you until you get alternate employment.

Never mind fretting about losing Shankland - we could be in danger of losing SN if this form continues. English clubs will be noticing his progress, particularly if we get to the cup final.

Interested to see any improvement from our last semi final, if we get there.

Agreed, think we need to think about a new contract. With his standing in the game and reputation down south, he will attract interest sooner or later.

LSo if we don’t beat rangers or Celtic, teams with 4 times the budget.  £60m vs £15m your gonna reach what conclusion? You’re going to ignore the fact that a young manager in his first season is smashing records left and right, with numbers comparable to the very best we’ve had over the past 40 years.

I’ve no idea if you were anti Naismith but if you were, time to admit like so many others you were wrong.

He’s quite like a few managers in the way we start matches and sometimes takes two opportunities to change the formation and players before finding a way to exploit the opposition. As time goes by i think he will do that from the start more often. We have been screaming for years about our away form and we hopefully will set new records for away wins.
