Good riddance .

an liar, who has done nothing but lie to the population of Scotland in an effort to secure independence.

The absolute worst kind of person, intelligent enough to know the damage she can cause.

and let’s not play whataboutery- I’m fully aware other parties are infested by the same rats.  None of them are able to pull off the “I’m trustworthy” lie like this person.

She went down in my estimation with all her fawning over the Royal family.

I hope her replacement is a Republican with a policy of a clean break from the UK.

I think you need to read up on who and how the First Minister is decided.

isn't it a vote by MSPs, just the same as how the UK prime minister is decided by a vote of MPs?

I don't care. I only want civil war. Democracy isn't on the table for independence and the SNP have had their chance.

"Had enough", seemingly.

Probably ground down to a breakdown having to tolerate the absurd snash of DRoss and Sarwar.

The most popular leader in the UK, despite what the unionists on here would lead you to believe. Can't blame her for having enough of the unrelenting campaign by our unionist media, especially the laughingly called BBC SCOTLAND. Hope it's not Swinney as he has zero personality. Maybe Kate Forbes, although still pretty young, assuming it has to be an MSP and not an MP.

Should we be putting you on suicide watch?

I don't think we should get all hot and bothered about her resigning.   I mean, resignations are much worse in England.

9 years in the job.

5 massive landslide election wins.

Run rings around every other politician at both a Scottish and UK level.

Not the worst record to bow out with.

She got some things wrong along the way, but overall was a steady hand on the tiller.

No obvious successor waiting in the wings.

A clean break from the UK won't include a clean break from the royal family.

You’d be better with a young militant type then, that mouthpiece Mhairi Black would be a fine leader. 😊

It is a vote by MSPs, the poster asked if we would all get to decide.

She created a one person party to run a one party government.

The result is that a new FM has to be chosen from a cast of nonentities!

Do people really think the monarchy is the most important thing going on in this country and the U.K. in general?

Wrapped in a saltire and being the only visible opposition to Boris on many topics, meant she was given an unprecedented level of gravitas…

it is indeed good riddance !

Hopefully the lies will come out (something big must have changed  zealot sturgeons view) people will start to see the truth, but people see what they want to see.
It’s a good day for truth and a bad day for nationalists… the dictator is dead.

Agree. She always seems happy with a devolved parliament rather than an independent one. Same can be said for the previous leader in Westminster and a fair few of the SNP MPs.

You were the one that I saw. Once again I'm not crying, why would I cry about a politician? Especially one that I can't vote for!!! you are on the other hand behaving like a 12 year old.

Dirty Deeds

There's a skill to quiting at the right time.  Gordon Brown should have quit as PM at least a year before that election that's given us 13 years of Tory rule and counting.

As I recall the SNP were up in arms when the Tories put a new leader in without a vote.

So assume we all get a say on the next clown.

Not sure but I'm pretty sure the Scotrish Gov need to vote on a new First Minister? So by virtue of electing a MSP you will ha e voted in someone to vote on your behalf.

Not even sure I've got that right, I think it's party members that vote.

In fact, don't the MPs whittle the list down, then leave it to a few thousand Tory members?

The SNP leader needs to be at Holyrood rather than Westminster therefore almost certainly Angus Robertson will be the leading candidate.
