Edinburgh at home to Gloucester tonight in the Champions Cup. 8pm kick-off on Premier Sports 1.

Edinburgh need to get a 5 point win if they're going to have any chance of making the knockouts, with Bath away their only remaining game after tonight. Which makes it all the more galling that they basically passed on a chance of getting points away to Castres in the last round.

You'd think they would beat Gloucester seeing as they're 2nd bottom of the Premiership down south, but this is Edinburgh we're talking about, so who knows which version of the team will show up...

Such a painful watch. Thomson is just not good enough. Glasgow dumping their cross out to Edinburgh while Darbe went the other way.

Coach might be shit but the players he's got are never ever going to be good enough.

Now to suffer the second half

Second half marginal improvement. Gloucester there to beat if they can just cut out errors.

Edinburgh win with BP so 5 points. Turned it over by forcing Gloucester to make even more mistakes than we make.

Can't understand why Gloucester kicked penalty with few minutes to go when they were 5 points down. They barely saw ball again outside their own 22. Mad decision but a welcome one.

15 tries already in Pretoria in the game between the Bulls and Bristol Bears...and there's still 20 minutes to go. 61-35 to the Bears at the moment. Defences must have decided to have a day off.

Watching Glasgow in the first half away to Clermont is like watching a different game than Edinburgh are playing, they're light years ahead of Edinburgh in speed of ball, variety in attack, players knowing where to be and what to do. Clermont were getting run ragged.

Edinburgh can't move on from Everitt fast enough, he's wasting some of the good players Edinburgh do have.

Huw Jones leaving Glasgow at the end of this season. Off to France as is Adam Hastings. Not sure which clubs.

I think Hastings is going to Montpellier.

WTAF!! Everitt given a new contract by the SRU to be coach at Edinburgh for the next 2 years.

Do the SRU actually want Edinburgh to be successful? :censored:

Worst piece of news since Townsend stayed on at Scotland. SRU are utterly clueless. I haven't seen one period of consistent quality rugby from Edinburgh for about 18 months and I lay the blame for that squarely at coaches door.

It utterly bizarre. If I was Darcy Graham I’d be looking for a move.

Meanwhile New Zealand have sacked their coach Scott Robertson after an 'internal review'.

Different approach to success.

Confirms those in charge of Scottish Rugby are not fit for purpose. It's already emboldened him to continue his stupidity as I hear he is again resting key players for the Bath trip.

It's not our strongest team for sure. Bradbury and McConnell rested and a few others missing because of injury or selection.

Everitt still going on about going down to Bath to get the run but I fear he has received a blow to his head if he thinks that is likely.

Even a close loss gives Edinburgh a chance to get through but will need results to go their way.

To be honest, I don't think Edinburgh have a chance against Bath away even with a full strength team. Of course, that's down to the coach too, as he's not getting the best out of the team, and it's still annoying that they're writing it off.

Getting thumped as expected. We have scored 1 try though so need 3 more in 2nd half to get a BP. That's all we can get out of this.

Edinburgh's clearance/exit from kick offs and box kicks is absolutely pathetic. Can barely catch ball and then get isolated in tackle immediately. What do these players do in training as everything seems to be off the cuff?

This is going to be as much as Bath want it to be. Going to be 50 points easy, but could be a lot more unless Bath ease up.

Easy to see why Everitt was given a new contract :banghead2:

What a ****ing shambles. Bath are a good team but Edinburgh were a disgrace. Can't tackle, can't pass the ball, can't exit from their own 22, can't scrum or line out and our box kicking is just shit. The no 9 & 10 look like they won a raffle to get a game. Just ****ing awful

Castres get the bonus point win over Munster, so have moved ahead of Edinburgh in the pool. Makes the capitulation in France before the game even started even more galling. Depending on the Toulon-Gloucester result, Edinburgh could be out of the Champions Cup totally (a Gloucester win and any bonus point for Toulon would almost certainly knock them out).

I suppose they're at least guaranteed dropping into a Challenge Cup last 16 spot now with Munster losing

I see Toulon beat Gloucester last night, so Edinburgh do make the last 16 of the Champions Cup. That's as far as they'll get though, as will have an away match against one of the top seeds like Bordeaux, Leinster or Bath...again. Could be away to Glasgow too.

That's the under appreciated genius of Everitt when recognised that Gloucester would lose and Edinburgh would gallop into last 16 thereby allowing him to play children against Bath on Friday.

Maybe we are going to mount a hidden charge to glory similar to Hibs in league.

Looks like it's going to be Leinster or Bath away for Edinburgh in the last 16, depending on Glasgow's result in this game about to start. Glasgow beat Saracens and it'll be Leinster, lose and Edinburgh will have the joy of facing off against Bath again...

It's going to be Leinster then as Glasgow are giving Saracens the runaround.

Yep. Saracens could even miss out of the last 16 if they don't slow the flow of points soon. If they lose by 48, then the Durban Sharks take the last spot and not Saracens.

Would be amusing to see them beat while Edinburgh get through.

Hopefully Scotland play like Glasgow in 6 Nations and not like Edinburgh

Seeing Cherry there instead of Hiddleston is disappointing. Jonny Gray hardly gets a game and is Gilchrist not injured? And the in form Cam Henderson not being given a chance is just perplexing.

A magnificent 2nd half performance from Edinburgh sees a 17-5 half time lead vanish into a 19-17 loss. 2nd half defied belief as box kick followed box kick to absolutely nobody. It's like Edinburgh forgot they had 2 attacking wingers.

Special mention to Shiel and Thomson in the backs. Rarely can 2 players have looked like they won a raffle ticket to get to play in a real match. Can't tackle, can't think, can't pass, can't make a break but can slow the game down to walking pace.

Two wingers for Edinburgh should look to get out and go elsewhere as another two seasons of this shite won't do them any good.

Thanks SRU for extending Everitt's coaching deal for another couple of years. It was a stupid decision a couple of weeks ago and it's a stupid decision now.

You just know he got a contract extension for making a good PowerPoint presentation and job pitch for the powers that be.

Is the SRU full of weejies now or have the GFA taken over the decision making for them? It seems like they only want the team from Glasgow to prosper.
