***Official Heart of Midlothian v H1b5 Match Day Thread***

Recommended Posts

Including tonight, there are only 8 sleeps until the Derby at Albion Place Stadium.

The countdown has started ...

A 12:00 KO is not ideal, but I suspect that come 13:45 we'll be having a party, and the H1b5 will (still) be in their beds.

Of course, the party may well have begun by 12:45.

Do not be surprised if H1b5' TIFO resembles rows and columns of green seats.

My prediction is 0-3, based on this season's opening performances.

An evening win is special when squeezing over the so-called 'Bridge of Doom', but a daytime one on Sunday 7th August 2022 will be equally good.

A full week to prepare and hopefully get our key players like Kingsley and Devlin fully fit.

They won't forget the vote

3-0 Hearts.

Hopefully the County game has done us the world of good re getting up to speed.   Two player combinations that I hope we don’t see are Natty/Sibbick right side of defence and Haring/Smith in midfield.     Going to very very tight,  but if we are really up for it I reckon we’ll win by the odd goal.

No idea what hibs are like after one game.

We were fairly poor yesterday so a huge improvement is required.

1-1 would be my prediction.

Ross County are a better side than Hibs I’ve no doubt.

0–1 to us will do.

Haring / Smith won’t be as poor again.

Swap Atkinson (injury permitting) for Smith and that’s the team.

Hibs are feeling very cocky after their last gasp win in the early relegation battle.  I think we’ll put 4 past them with a Shankland hat trick 🇱🇻

The Treasurer

Like Hampden I expect they will target the likes of Mackay and Shankland early on.

Just hope we have a ref prepared to deal with their "tactics"

Can’t see him starting with a 4 and I fear Kingsley is out for a few weeks.

We really need to be up for it from the start no matter the formation. Playing poorly in one half and better in the next won’t get us the victory we all want.

Can’t have smith and haring in midfield. If it’s two I think you have to push sibbick in for energy. Defo need another defender in as shows yesterday players will be out.

I have to drive due to distance so never have a drink pre game. Earlier the k-o the better as far as I’m concerned as I can then celebrate with a beer or 12

1-1 or 1-4 us.

If we score early they might crumble, but got a funny feeling its gonna be tight.

4-5-1 please.

Hopefully Kingsley is back.

If need be Smith and Grant/ Devlin.

Although I think Haring gets included to boost our Height as we are a short team.

Having watched their highlights, a we need to be up for physical battles and b we need a strong referee

Start like we did yesterday both tempo and team and Hibs will run all over us. From the bits I’ve watched of them they run about a lot and if you give them time they have players who can pick a pass. However given how many derby debutants they’re likely to have if we get into them from the start there’s a few that’ll go missing.

Cadden needs stopped high up the pitch, and we can’t be diving into challenges in the box, they look to have a few show ponies who’ll collapse at the slightest contact.

If Kingsley is out we need to work out the best defensive 3, it’s certainly not what we saw yesterday. Grant or Boyce in the 10, I’m still not sure about Atkinson but he may be out anyway. I think Smith is a better option for ER. We need Devlins energy in midfield beside big Pete and dominate that Hibs pair and we know Newall will lose the plot if it’s not going his way.

All that said I think it’ll be a low scoring affair either a 1-0 or 1-1.

Their finishing,  from the brief highlights I've seen, looked woeful.

They did however, create a lot of chances.

As usual it will be a midfield battle.

Apologies to all. You are, of course, quite correct and I'm sure that the Mods will see to it.

My excuse is that H1b5 should always come 2nd ... 'Natural Order' an' aw that. 😉

They look like the have a couple of new players who could maybe snatch a goal with a long range effort if we are not tighter at the back but I do not fancy them much at all based on the highlights

Really want Kingsley back for this one it is maddening that he looks to be out injured …………. what is the latest on him any way as I have read completely different accounts on here from 50 50 to serious doubt to out for a few weeks

Last season's league matches with Hibs;

0 - 0 (H)

0 - 0 (A)

3 - 1 (H)

5 points from a possible 9. The game yesterday against Ross County will have done us the world of good getting competitive minutes in the legs leading up to next weekend. Hopefully Devlin is fully fit and we see him return to the starting lineup. I’m liking the combinations between Forrest, Shankland and McKay and you can just see Barrie is learning how to play with Shankland, seeing which runs he makes etc. It will click at some point between those two and there’s no better time than in the Derby!

Hearts too defensive.

Hobo cloggers.

Last seasons 3rd top goal scorers In the division are too defensive.

Gve yourself a break, if you're gonna post nonesense at least try a bit.

You didn't get to the game yesterday then - and that was for a home game.

We are not as good (SO FAR) as last year with losing Simms and Souttar. Hopefully further signings will change that..

Hearts don't play as well away from home (they are not the only team of course).

Can you explain why my view is nonsense - apart from the fact that it differs from yours?

I did.

We've played one game, quite a leap to say we aren't as good as last season already.

We beat them 2-1 at home last season as well, exactly the same score.

Your view of us being defensive is nonsense as we were 3rd top goal scorers last season, and if going on this season, jont top  goal scorers.

Your view of "Hearts being too Defensive" - nonsense, utter tripe.

In fact, it's just not true, it's an opinion that is incorrect and wrong.
