So how do we achieve that?

Cut taxes, de-regulate, cut intreset rates and cut services we can't afford. People have money to spend and the economy begins to grown as it does money is generated to fund services.

Regardless of how bad some may regard the NHS, everyone and I mean everyone in the UK has access to it.

So everyone has access to medical care regardless of how poor or otherwise they may judge it.

Absolute poverty, I don't think anyone in the UK is, unless they have chosen to be, I know that sounds ridiculous but nowadays some regard ridiculous as the norm.

Relative poverty, harder to judge in my opinion. Are there poor people, most certainly but I personally(there will be others who will disagree) believe there is a difference between being poor and being in poverty. Relative or otherwise.

I understand your rationale however although everyone has access to NHS, the differences in health outcomes for those in the highest and lowest socio economic groups are stark. I appreciate the BBC link details access to Health care in their definition.

I looked up the Scottish Government definitions and they seem less wordy focusing on the 60% of median household income with a difference in comparison for relative as opposed to absolute poverty.

What do you mean when you say "de-regulate"?

What regulations need removal?

H&SE regulations which have saved countless lives and make us safer when at work?

The rights to Paternity/Maternity leave, rights to paid holiday leave, paid sickness leave?

Animal welfare and other food chain regulations?

COSSH regulations?

If you truly believe in "deregulation" put some meat on the bone and tell us what you mean and what improvements it will bring, otherwise it appears that you are spouting the same unadulterated twaddle that Rees Mogg and his ilk vomit out with no actual personal opinion. Rees Mogg has vested a vested interest and has also suggested in the HoC that paid holiday leave should not be seen as a right.

NB: JRM is used as a touch point in this post as he is a particularly vile Christian cosplayer and is also an expensively educated moron.

Dyson fecked off to Singapore already.

Ratcliffe fecked off to Monaco.

Rothermore lives in France.

Branson lives in the Virgin Islands.

They've already hidden their money.
Tax their assets. A land tax will do that.
Or the UK Government could take direct control of the various Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories and stop them being used as the global hubs of money laundering, sanctions busting and tax evasion.
Or we bring in the same kind of law as the USA where they tax all of their citizens no matter where in the world they choose to live. No escape from paying what you owe.

Keef's New New Labour will do anything other than tax big business and the obscenely wealthy.

Orban has apparently put price caps on some goods and is threatening to widen the scope if the supermarkets don't stop profiteering...While that may or may not work, Starmer should be looking at taxing the profits of the large supermarket chains, was in Asda last week Ans a large jar of Nescafé instant coffe was £8, eight fluffing pounds!!!

The energy companies should also be targeted.

I'm obviously no economist and don't know what negatives would come out of taxing them but these two sectors have been taking the pish for the last few years!

Yep. Some poor comments again.

Sexual predation has no home spot on the political spectrum. It's insane how it STILL happens. Especially within those that hold some sort of power.

Not really. I'm awaiting the 'banter' on Graham Dott. Just find the whole Tory/Nonce thing pretty infantile, even for Smithee although he has nothing much else to do with time apart from linger on here.

I had to look up Dott, I didn't even know who he was, never mind being a Tory.

That would be illegal here. Have you reported anyone? It's a serious offence Gerry, you must have evidence or are you just being racist?

Think you answered your own question there🙂🙂

I think they're referring to a gobshite Telegraph article which claimed that some abuse enquiries were being cancelled because of a fear of upsetting the Pakistani community.

What ACTUALLY happened was that the enquiries were moved from the national government level down to local government level because the local governments had better knowledge of the communities in question and would be better placed to ask the right questions of the right people without coming across as heavy handed and insensitive.

People are allowed to complain about different cultures. At least at the moment as far as I know.
Imagine if the grooming gangs had all been white "gammons" and the children raped all Pakistani. There would be nationwide condemnation and more inquiries than you could shake a stick at, and rightly so.

This is a huge cover up. The scale of this abuse is massive.

But anyway, I am not a paid up member of the  grammar police and it was a light hearted poke.

No-one is a criminal on account of their race. Regarding grooming gangs, immigrants are statistically less likely than native Brits to be involved.

Cover ups? I'm not sure about that. Thatcher covered it up as did the Royals apparently. Certainly, auld Liz paid some £12m to prevent Andrew going to trial.

I don’t know or care about stats, justice is what matters. We should all be dealt the same force of the law regardless of colour or religious views. That doesn’t appear to be happening.
Maybe the stats are skewed as only one demographic gets charged and others are free to do as they please. That’s how it’s coming across to me. Do you not think the government would launch a major national inquiry if 10 thousand white men had raped and abused hundreds of thousands of black or Asian girls, targeting them specifically due to their ethnicity?
I think anyone who doesn’t want a full scale inquiry is a wrong un and should have their hard drive checked.
What matters is that the victims get justice and that isn’t going to happen with this government.

Parliament being recalled to debate future of British Steel.  If the debate includes saving it using tax revenues, and is voted through.  Who pays?  The ordinary tax payer?  Who is raising taxes  to fund the solution, Parliament not Labour and so would that be the tactic, a slight of hand?

Labour said nobody's tax would go up under this Government but watch this space, cunning lot.

They didn't say nobody's tax would go up. They said they wouldn't increase the rates of certain taxes.

Saving British Steel could also move goal posts, perhaps significantly.

Another national strategic asset that's been systematically stripped and milked for every penny at the hands of a foreign company.

And, being a national strategic asset, the public purse will bail it out. Again.

Just stop dicking around and Nationalise it.

I am coming round to re-nationalising a lot of services, electricity, gas, trains, steel etc or at least have a public owned option for some services.

We generally get a poor expensive service so let’s at least keep the money in the public purse.
