The Hampden experience

The main problem with Hampden is it's location, sited in the city of two big teams means their fans will always have an easy time while the rest have to travel. ( the second problem is the weegie " ends" ) The simple solution was a new purpose built stadium somewhere near Stirling. Good motorway links from nearly every part of the country ( especially if the upgrade the A9 ) Build rail links right up to the stadium with plenty of parking for cars and busses. They could even keep their offices in Glasgow if they want, but a stadium where all opposing fans need to travel should be a priority. If they still won't build new then allow east coast teams to play at Murryfield or a small stadium up north if it's those teams playing.

Everything shite about it mentioned already, I would just add, it’s great when the TV cameras pan round the fans and see it on the big screen.  I guess our shit TV deal can’t afford that little luxury.

They put a nice new underground car park in for the Blazers and their mates and lots of plush offices and hospitality suites.

What did they do for the lifweblood of the game, namely the ordinary fans? absolutely nothing is the answer and there lies the problem in Scottish Football.

As long as the ruling parties at the SFA are kept happy and make sure they do everything to help Celtic and Rangers keep their monopoly on the game then they think they have done a wonderful job.

Ignoring the transport links, which are terrible,  the South Stand is decent.

The rest of the ground isn't.

I think they further developed the South Stand to get European finals.

Transport links to Hampden are shocking. Can get the train there easy enough but to wait in a queue at Mount Florida for 1 hour + is ridiculous. You're quicker walking which is what we did on Saturday and for most of the way there was fans walking with us to find buses a good 30/40 mins from Hampden. Got two trips next month there too.

Can we arrange a Rangers v Celtic match, with two fans to a seat, to coincide with this demolition?

Or just a sevco / sellick game, with 150,000 tickets sold, no segregation, no cops, no stewards, no security, no barriers between sections, freedom to roam, and just let weegie nature take its course? Then go in and demolish whatever's left, saving a fortune in the process.

In terms of access/logistics etc. Murrayfield is excellent. They should just spread big Scotland games between Murrayfield, Ibrox and Parkhead and play all national finals at one of those stadiums. There is no national stadium in Spain or Italy so absolutely no need for one in Scotland.

The South Stand is a very poor design with a low trajectory, particularly at the front. The who place needs demolished.

Correct there is no need, but the SFA  would need to abolish a "Celtic end" and "Rangers end". There are many grounds suitable to accommodate smaller crowds for some games, e.g semi finals. l

Not sure getting away from a packed Murrayfield would be any easier than Hampden.

I’ve got caught up in the rugger traffic before and it’s a nightmare with everyone heading to the Gogar roundabout.

I went for a coffee about half an hour pre kick off only to be told they didn't have any.

What's that all about ffs. Everything about the place is shoddy & run down. The toilets are a disgrace, the view from halfway down behind the goals is non existent & the general infrastructure around it isn't up.to the job. Plus it's too small.

Sums Scottish football up to me. The place isn't fit for the 21st century, it's living in the past, generally just crap on so many levels& it's run by short sighted self protectionist imbeciles who are out their depth in their positions of authority.

Just bulldoze it for gods sakes.
