Before I begin , this is at the thought process at the minute and there a number of what if's and but's to iron out, but as a personal travel consultant I am looking at potentially chartering an aircraft for our European adventure's. I have a supplier that can do this but its to early to put things together until we know our opponents and dates of games.

Of course this would need to be viable to the business, however I am more than happy to look into it further and do all the commercials on costings Etc.

I will keep you posted.

Please do.

The Zagreb one was quite expensive for a one day trip but was full. Would certainly consider the same again as was hassle free. Plus a motorcycle escort to the airport 😂 !

Sorry to hear about your health problems PJ 1.

Hopefully the Doc gives you the all clear👍

A bigger drawback might be your travel insurance.

I have health problems as well and last time I went abroad got rinsed for insurance.

Greedy ****ers these insurance firms. 😕

This is what really worries me about foreign travel. I have travel/health insurance with my bank account.  As with most (all?), you have to declare pre-existing conditions, which I have always done. As I get older, the extra payment they require increases. When I went to NZ in 2019, they charged me an extra £120 for a year, although this was still much cheaper than other insurance policies on offer.

Now, I'm in the middle of chemotherapy for the same pre-exisitng condition and, when finished, I fully expect my premiums to rocket, even if/when I get the all-clear.  As these things go, I'll be lucky if I can go and watch players run up and down Gullane Sands, never mind taking exotic trips to foreign parts.

You can still get a EHIC card for European travel even post Brexit. Think its called GHIC now. Worked great out here in spain for a mate. Post brain surgery. Quoted ridiculous amount to cover a weekend here. Had a seizure ( first one ever and without any warning from doctors that it was a possibility ) . Presented the card, cross checked with passport. Sorted.

Your experience is reassuring, as I've just applied to get a GHIC to replace the EHIC which ran out in December.

I have seen several Rangers and Celtic supporters transiting through Charleroi the last couple of seasons

Enjoyed our trip to Tallinn, my Mate a tad more, nudge nudge wink wink!

Wednesday and Thursday usually very cheap flights between Charleroi and Edinburgh for as little as 10 euros each way

Cyprus would be nice as I have a Hearts supporting mate with a Villa there. We used it for the Scotland away match late 2019.  🌞🕶🍻

I would disagree. I live in Amsterdam and train travel in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France etc is very expensive.

Train travel in Germany is not expensive. I live in Austria, it’s at least half the price of equivalent train travel in the UK.

Yeah if I remember correctly the club charter to Athens was circa £450 to fly out day before then back straight after the game, we opted for a £220 week in crete with another 80 for the flights up to athens and back

I did the same day trips to Braga and Zagreb due to work commitments. Enjoyed both but prefer to make it a few days if possible.

Would be great to get APOEL or even Omonia and dump Neil Lennons mob out.

Plus i'm sure the away end is massive in the GSP stadium, wonder if they'd give us that full stand.

While on holiday there I’ve been to see a few July European ties there. For one of them Karipidis and Bruno were playing. Nice stadium, in the sunshine.

I quite fancy Austria for a wee away day. Always a country I've wanted to give a visit.

Sturm Graz look likely to finish second so they would be the Austrian team who we could face.

This will be the jalbo clan's first euro travels. Kids grown up makes it much easier. I think we'd quite like a German tie first. Having been to Cologne before, I reckon that would be a fantastic trip.

Not really sure what you are saying other than train travel is expensive in the UK, which everyone knows. Train travel is also expensive in the EU - that's all I'm saying.

Not always. Last friday we travelled from Amsterdam - Antwerp - Leuven and only paid £45 for a family of 4

Not so many flights in summer but i would expect the best option to fly to Munich and Train to Austria.

Sturm Graz and Dynamo Kyiv confirmed to be in UCL QR2, League Path.

Both now possible opponents for Hearts if they lose their UCL qualifier.

They are back playing friendly matches at the moment so there is some chance who knows the games are gonna be 3/4 months away. Any games certainly won't be played in Ukraine for the foreseeable though.

As I retired last year I'd like to get back in the swing of things and get travelling to European games again. Missed the trip to Malta, the first European game I'd missed in a while as my employer had changed the number of people who could be off at one time, and it was shite sitting at home watching it. Need to check my passport, last renewed pre the game versus Spurs, so it must be due for renewal shortly. And I guess I'll also have to be sensible and check with my doctor. I had a stroke in late January, been back at games for the last few weeks at Tynecastle and around Scotland but for safety I think I need to ask him if he thinks it is safe to travel overseas ( I will explain to him I am going to Parkhead for the post split league game and cannot think of anywhere more dangerous to travel to, hopefully that will help him say yes. If I am going it will be with friends from our SC.

Bologna was the 1st European trip I met you PJ1 in 1990.who'd have thought it would be the 1st in a 23 European match continuous run for me.get yourself fit mate and we'll meet at match 24 hopefully.

Potential austrian destination for us is Graz. Couple of hours by train from Vienna apparently, quite cheap also according to Trainline.

Any idea if you still find out 5 or 6 potential opponents the night before or is that just the earlier rounds? Always easier for doing a bit planning the night before and booking as soon as the draw is made, bit more difficult if its an open draw with a lot of teams.

Also any idea if the seeded side gets home advantage the 2nd game? Would also make it easier for booking time off work.

We could play teams from two different pots but we'd know the potentials when the 3rd qualifying round Europa League draw is made on the 18th July. We'll get a better idea as those games are played 4/11th August who is going to progress.

The first team drawn is at home in the first leg however sometimes UEFA can change fixtures depending on certain things.

Posted this on the other European thread but I'll pop it in here too since this is about travelling. Started looking into our possible opponents and the best way to get to each of them without having to take 6 different connections in random places. Seems like a few of our potential opponents don't have direct flights from Edinburgh into their home city.

Helsinki, Bratislava, Istanbul, Zurich and Vilnius all have flights direct from Edinburgh but the rest it seems will involve flying somewhere else and making your way from there. Vienna for Maribor, for example.

Or Budapest or Bratislava, probably cheaper flights than Munich
