Wonder who will be moving on. McEneff and GMS the most obvious ones.

What formation would we play to accommodate both simms and Shankland??

Needs to change that instagram name to '25'

Off topic but these New Era caps are smart. Could be doing with one of them for holiday (to wear with my away shirt obviously).

I think it’ll be Gino (unfortunately).

We don’t see the team train a lot, but he seems to be at the back of all the running lines and looks quite lethargic. Not sure if his head is turned or if this is how he looks all the time.

I don’t doubt he’ll turn out to be an excellent signing, but he’s too much of an unknown quantity to really have the ‘wow’ factor. I’ve never seen him play, and most people on here will have only seen him play v Peru at most.

Watched him regularly playing for Central Coast Mariners in the A league and never saw him play a bad game.

The article estimates the fee would be in the region of £1 million.

I didn't read of any suggested figure but anyway we could maybe deal with a swap/part exchange to overcome the issue.

I'm thinking of Boyce possibly returning to England.

Cammy and Alex were quite positive on their QA in terms of him as a trainer (outside of the banter)

Are we not trying to increase the squad size? McEneff the only one I think we could lose. GMS / Gino are good options with so many games to play.

That’s nonsense. Never understood the dislike of some former players on here. Andy Irving is another one

Would be slightly disappointed if we played Grant in CM and not the 10. He obviously prefers being further forward.

Would like a stand out CM to keep Devlin and Haring on their toes.

This. We can’t afford to lose many if any before Christmas. We need a big squad. Hopefully the appeal of Europe will keep McEneff, Gino etc here for now

Permanently or on loan? I am guessing GMS and McEneff.

I'd agree generally.

This would give us a greater opportunity at squad rotation though.

It's something I've  felt we could get better at, particularly up front.

Covering injuries and suspensions last season was difficult enough, but there were also times where players who were a bit off form really should have been rested.

This all day. It's what he does best, likes to get forward, score and create. Quite a lot about how Peterborough didn't utilise him fully last season, and the main reason for his dip in performance by the sounds of it

Not sure that makes a lot of difference. Robbie wants a bigger squad and anyone who signs for us knows that they can't all get a game every week.

Play one game and do well and give the manager a decision to make for the next game is how it works. Paying a fee is no guarantee to start games for any player.

Simms is a deal we believe is possible but will most likely have to wait on, we can’t be risking missing out on a shankland etc to find out simms isn’t returning either

He played McEneff quickly out of position from what I remember.

They certainly seem the weakest in our squad now but a lot will depend on who we are still to bring in.

1/2 permanent and then decision made on a few of the younger lads whether to loan to a good level or put into B team

The 10, I assume is going to be the preferred option, at least to begin with in that role? I think it might be our signing of the window. Sounds perfect if we can get them in.

We might go with a 3-4-3 again in which case he'd be forced into the centre or out wide.

I would expect GMS to be on quite a high wage, relatively. Not too many clubs would want to pay that kind of money. If we finish up loaning him out and still paying a whack of his wage we might be as well keeping him as an option.

You are correct, a centre mid is high on the list some reason I thought I had said CM in my original post 👍🏻

Just spoke to a knowledgeable Notts County season ticket holder I know and he gave Jorge Grant top Marks. Jorge played a season on loan there. Says he is an attacking midfielder who can play left or right. Free kick specialist and good penalty taker. Said he is easily championship level in his opinion so should be excellent signing for us.

Would we not need one more striker?

if one gets in injured and say Boyce is off form again, leaves us very week up front

I wonder if Sibbick is getting prepared to be a DM again. I can't see a place in the defence for him, especially if we get a RCB in.

I would like to think Logan will be given a chance at RB.

If Michael Smith is going to have game time he would probably do a job in a back 3.

Also would prefer to give Connor Smith a chance rather than GMS.

Part of our success last season was a team of younger guys with things to prove. We have to trust them at some point.

He wasn’t toilet at all. Was pivotal in that opening season we were 1st in the league. After that the whole team declined. He is at an age where playing for Gillingham is respectable considering he has his family

down south too. Another player scapegoated by a strange set of fans

Just common sense

One more striker when we have several more games with European games … and if we want to get closer to the old firm - we need more than just one more striker

If (big if) we get Simms and Shankland I think we can afford to give Hendo a chance early in season - there's a long time during which English loans will become available.

That's four strikers including Boyce and we rarely play more than one up front.
