Nothing? There’s absolutely nothing at all about Jorge Grants career to suggest he’ll improve us??

not that in two of his seasons he hit nearly 20 goals, made player of the season, and earned a move to the English championship?

youre right, what an absolute dud. What are this shambolic recruitment team playing at

“I don’t want to be negative” so I’ll post a negative comment anyway. Aye great contribution

Obviously want the lad to do well but let’s all hope he’s not just another Olly Lee

Regardless of leagues, as a midfielder he’s nearly hit 20 goals twice - don’t care if some were pens, that’s still a good return

Exactly ! I don't get this " Aye but most were penalties" chat from some folk. They are still goals and they will still win us games. If Jorge is as good at taking them and putting them away as it seems then somebody like him is a very useful weapon to have in the arsenal.

Yep I've had a feeling for a few days now that there might be a big signing nobody saw coming.(not ITK by the way)

I will just be over the moon if it's Simms but I do get the feeling there is going to be a cracker pulled out the bag

I think with Souttar his physique changed after one of his long injury layoffs and he had spent months working out in the gym.

Sibbick did look much leaner than I recall when he came back and it wasn't just his haircut to thank for that.

Yeah Souttar definitely hit the gym but I feel like lads in their early 20's fill out at some point and I don't think Sibbick has yet. Could imagine him being a bit of monster too in a year or two.

Really hope this is the case.... wicked corner taker ✔️ wicked free kick taker ✔️ long throw specialist... ? And then we'd be totally sorted for set pieces!

Add to that list...reliable penalty taker.

I suggest you take a look at James Tavernier’s career before he signed for Sevco.

Sometimes it’s about the right player at the right time. Mr Savage has done pretty well by us so far, so fingers crossed.

Add Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara to that!

I don’t mean to sound positive but this guy could be the new Hartley!

Same as almost everyone else on here….I have no idea how good this guy is but one things for sure, Neilson and Savage have got very little wrong so far. Welcome to Hearts Jorge and can’t wait to see what you can do🇱🇻👍

Great post and as far as I’m aware, the players signed so far have been thoroughly scouted over time,  and have been our 1st picks.   They’re not knee jerk signings like over the road and I wouldn’t be surprised if they exceeded our expectations as a result.     Welcome aboard Jorge 🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻

Don't understand the issue with Grant scoring a lot of penalties. People are happy enough to proclaim how good Hartley was when he was our main penalty taker whilst netting circa 15 each season if I remember correctly.

Anyone manage to catch that tweet that Hearts just posted and deleted again almost immediately?

The boring answer is that they posted a video that has not worked properly, but if that is the case they have not posted since. The other boring one is they accidently tweeted and it had nothing on it so they have deleted it.

But it could be the exciting one, they posted a video of training and realised it had someone in it who has not been unveiled yet.

signing a creative midfielder is what we need. hoping it works out well for him

This is a big piece if the jigsaw we’ve just signed. We seem to have paid a decent fee for him so if he’s up to our level in the SPFL he could be one of Savage/Neilson’s best pieces of work.

Even half of that would be acceptable. We’ve not had a regular goal scoring midfielder for quite a while. if he’s a penalty taker you’d expect him to get double figures in this league

The third option was my initial thought…chances are it’ll be either reason one or reason two though 🙄🤪

I was very pessimistic about Grant at first since he was on the L1 transfer list, but as we've learned a bit more about him he's starting to sound a bit better and now that he's signed (apparently in preference to Connor Ronan) then lets see what he can do. Have a feeling he's one of these players who might not start every game but is there to offer something different and to rotate in and out of the starting 11. Just need to wait and see. The attributes we've learned about over the last few days sound quite appealing though:

- Quick reactions

- Punishes defensive errors

- Decent finisher

- Free kick specialist

- Can whip in a corner

- Successful penalty taker

More than willing to give the guy a chance and hope he's successful.

But there must be a Cameron, Hartley or Fulton out there somewhere.

Press report suggesting we, Cardiff and West Ham interested in Paddy Lane of Fleetwood who operates as a CM or winger.  Apparently very fast.

No ‘wow’ transfers just yet, perhaps, but everything has been quietly focused on getting a strong foundation in place. We tied up Gordon, Halkett and Kingsley before the end of the season. We’ve now signed two CBs, a winger, got Cochrane on a permanent deal, now an AM. Obviously we need at least one striker to replace Simms (hopefully Simms!), though I think we need two. Once we’ve done that, I think the club will figure out what we can afford, and who might be available, later in the window. It means we wait longer, but it’s shrewd business by the club. We have to live within our means from now on.

Some on here questioning the most recent signing? Almost wanting him to fail just to come out with, 'I told you so!'.

Is that it?

Unless those on here are seasoned in the practice of recruitment at elite level clubs, with respect, foxtrot oscar. We can all do without the negtivity. Let us trust in Doc, Robbie and the wider team to identify and recruit the correct players who will enhance the team. If one or two don't quite work, so be it. Doc has already said as much himself. The point is getting the vast majority to make a positive contribution to the team.

As for signing players from the English lower leagues, that chap Matt O'Riley was at MK Dons in League One and he seems to have done OK since arriving in the east end of Glasgow.

The article estimates the fee would be in the region of £1 million.

fecking olly lee, give me strength

We plucked Olly Lee out of League 2 Luton at the time. This lad has played significantly higher level than that consistently, Olly Lee is no comparison

And also Lee was not a bad player, not sure why he is given so much hate and a negative comparison. Boggling

Was just going to say - we're doing well and no disrespect to Grant and Forrest but I don't think we've made our most impressive signings yet. I reckon our big targets are still with their current clubs until the end of the month. Happy to see us wrapping up some important business early on though and adding some real quality in depth. Cochrane was a no-brainer for me and I'm glad we've got him over the line. Hopefully continues to crack on as our first choice left back, and continues to improve. Forrest and Grant look like they will give us solid and reliable options in those positions but that there's bigger business still to be done.

Far too much negativity about the place when we should be full of joy and optimism for the season ahead; does my nut in. Nothing is ever achieved with a negative mindset...

O’Riley is a cracking player.

He’s an example of someone who backed himself at a young age to go and play first team football in lower leagues rather than sitting in a premier league academy. Credit to him, it’s worked out rather well and he will probably end up moving on from Celtic in a couple of years to a Premier League team.

It’s similar to the English but has an ee sound at the end and a softer G sound at the start and the middle

A big plus for me is that Jorge Grants delivery at set pieces is apparently superb.  I can see him taking all the corners and wide free kicks in the oppositions half.  My money is on him getting at least 8 (Craig Halkett header) assists next season!

I don’t know why but I get a feeling that he is a Snodgrass type of player
