Is there no end to the talentless, incompetent self serving candidates within that list in particular and UK politicians in general?

Don’t forget Education Secretary and founder of YouGov (yes, YouGov!), Nadhim Zahawi. He also had a big say in the COVID vaccination policy/strategy and knows where many of the bodies are buried (excuse the pun).

For that reason alone, he has to be a contender.

Given that the next few on the list would include Raab, Mogg, Handcock and Patel, you might have a point.

I never ever expected to find myself regretting that Jeremy Hunt wasn't put in charge!

Rory Stewart was the best candidate of the last five. He'd have been a good PM but would never have got a party of rabid right wing racists anywhere behind him - other than with knives.

This was my thought also,  he seems to have de-c*ntified himself in recent times...

Think Priti Patel may also take a tilt.

I don't imagine he has but it's all about perspective and up against the current cabinet (which must be the collective noun for ****s), he's a paragon of virtue.

I think you’re right but surely it’s inconceivable she would get the gig? No way the Tories would put a dangerous clown in No.10…………….oh…….wait……..

Truss is on record giving a speech that the royal family should be abolished and was an ardent anti-Brexit campaigner. That's before we consider her generally mental demeanour. She was interviewed the other week and has voice trained herself to sound more like Maggie Thatcher; a shame for Debra Stephenson (or whoever does her voice for Deadringers).

Dearie me.. hes got a nerve considering his right wing credentials and recent countries response to covid  and free speech. However she is a waste of space. Like the rest of them,.

I love how U.K. commentators so readily dismiss comments from people such as this.

Reminds me of another ex-PM from Oz, Julia Gillard who appeared on the BBC politics show in the run up to the GE who absolutely eviscerated the ‘rationale’ of Leavers and their case for Brexit. She said that any deal between the U.K. and OZ would be great for Oz but not for the U.K. Then explained why Brexit was such a bad idea.

Never saw that interview appearing in the DM or Express sadly.

He never bailed anyone out. He took public money and dished it out. It has to be paid back and folk that think this was a “bail out” I.e free money are deluded.

The population are going to be paying that back for years to come. Cost of living has already skyrocketed and tax rises are on the horizon.

The dumbing down of the media in the UK is ridiculous. They treat most of the electorate as mugs. A huge amount of people just look at the headlines without question! Loads of gullible folk around so its target is easily hit!

Absolutely correct but what do expect from unionist types! Scotland has to be thankful and pay for it!

While there is precious little to praise the Tory Party on, they do have a racially diverse cabinet.

A non-white PM would be a massive step forward for the UK but may not be a short term vote winner for the Tories.

I couldn’t say if the poster i quoted is a unionist or not but what I do know is Scotland as an independent country with borrowing powers could have easily had the exact same furlough scheme as Sunaks plan. He was widely praised for it but all he did was give people money which has to be paid back. He looked at other EU countries with similar schemes and essentially copied it. Hardly some sort of rocket science.

Sunaks a very rich individual whose family has ties with the PPE companies who got given huge contracts. I wouldn’t trust him for a second and doesn’t deserve any praise for simply dishing out public money.

We've already got a total Jeremy Hunt in charge. I suspect it’ll be whoever didn’t attend an Xmas party at number 10 so the list will be short!

Why would a non white pm be any better than a white one? What difference does it make?

Someone shouldn’t be chosen based on their race, gender, sexuality or any of that.  I think Sunak and Jarvid are just as ****ing deluded, corrupt and snakey are Boris.  Brown skin or not.

Rishi is short. He was at the party but stood behind the bar so nobody realised he was there. Will be him I reckon

I personally couldn't give a flying eff what colour of skin the PM has, in fact I struggle to understand why it matters.

Guess it depends on perspective.  From the perspective of the person losing their income, at the time, it was a bail out

Agree though the economic repercussions will be long term

He made the right call at the right time and the furlough scheme was one of the most generous in the World.

His decisions saved a lot of jobs and all the predictions about mass unemployment when furlough ended never happened.

Credit where it's due

This - I follow a few Irish media types and news outlets and the dfiference between what they report and the BBC/London tory brexit cheelreading rags is staggering.

As for "our" next PM.

If it's a Tory it won't matter who it is : they'll continue to crash the economy just as the GOP did in the USA, leave Labour/others to pick up the tab and say "look, the party of high taxation" as the gullible fall for it yet again.

Rinse & repeat.

It shouldn't matter but it's naive to suggest it wouldn't influence a decent chunk of white voters.

He dished out public money that needs to be paid back. That’s all.

**** all generosity involved. Each and every tory involved in the decision to hand out public money like that would have been seething. Including dishy rishi.

And fwiw his hands aren’t clean in the shambles of the PPE contracts.

He doesn’t deserve any credit. His family got awarded a multi million pound PPE contract which his wife had links to. How the **** can he be given any praise.

He did what other countries did, it was hardly innovative and I've no idea why you'd claim it's

"one of the most generous in the World." when France & Germany paid out way more - their max payments were more than double what the UK paid.

Exactly. It’s as if he went into his own pocket all philanthropy like.

Each and every once of the people charged with the furlough decision hated every second of the socialist decisions they are forced to Make.
