upgotheheads Posted January 21, 2022 Share Posted January 21, 2022 I didn't think much of H1b5 performance last night, they couldn't get behind the Cove defence and didn't seem to have the pace to trouble them. Maloney is used to working with some of the worlds best players and they probably don't need much telling, this H1b5 bunch don't look as if they can do it by themselves. SM had a bit of the Cathro look to him; There's no doubt imo that sacking Ross for Maloney was a mistake, possibly of Butcher proportions. Maloney is going to get a helluva of lot of leeway by the press. That Cove performance was dire yet he gets a free pass and the players get 6s and 7s, when most Hibees would give 3s and 4s. Spot on , he is now probably realising how much of an uphill battle he has on his hands. He was pretty much in the background with the Belgium team, would have not had any influence on tactics . Sounds like the wee fella has imposter syndrome in spades and has been really triggered by one of his players approaching Ross for advice. He may have great coaching knowledge but how’s he going to instil confidence when he comes across like this. I think when the going gets tough he’ll be all over the place.
