skinnybob72
The split doesn't work because of the OF. They have to make sure that they play each other twice at home, the other post split fixtures fit in around that, often with someone being shafted. The obvious solution is to split after playing each other twice, which would allow a further set of home and away fixtures post split. This would increase the pressure on the 'bigger' teams to make sure they start the season well, which is no bad thing. However, there are so many tin pot clubs in the league who live off the scraps of home games against the OF that they would never vote for such a change as they would lose at least 1 game against the OF. Woe betide that they may actually replace that game with one they might actually win.

If there has to be a split this is the format. It's not even that hard a concept to wrap your nugget around. The unequal fixture split is a farce, an utter farce. poggs
A few reasons we are stuck. 4 OF derbies is one. The 2nd is the lower prem teams like st mirren etc are guaranteed 3 home games v the OF and thus 3 full gates. Any change that cuts that to two is doomed. the 11 votes rule combined with the 2 above reasons...... No point bumping our gums. that 11/12 rule has destroyed any chance of any change in the short term (Aberdeen to blame). Only way out is a bumper tv deal (no real chance) or the OF head to england (absolutely no chance) or an atlantic league or similar starts up (small chance)
