fabienleclerq
Came across people discussing TSC backa Topala in Serbia and one mentioned about them being funded by the Hungarian government. Had a wee Google and they appear to be funding teams in balkan countries close to large Hungarian diaspora. Found it interesting https://balkaninsight.com/2021/09/27/football-as-tool-of-soft-power-in-hungarys-hands/ Edited January 17, 2022 by fabienleclerq
Locky
Haven't read the article but I believe Dunajska (sp) Streda will be one? They're a Hungarian diaspora in Slovakia. Also worked with a lass who was from Romania but identified as Hungarian as most of Transylvania do too so wouldn't be surprised if there's a few Romanian clubs. The Hungarian president is football daft as well as a radge. Tbf though, they've put a lot of investment into Hungarian football. Wouldn't be surprised to see them host some sort of major tournament in the near future. Most clubs in the top flight have had new stadiums built and some of them look very nice indeed. All UEFA standard too and I believe all paid for by the government. Visited Budapest just before Covid and visited a Ferencvaros game. Lovely modern stadium they've got. Also went up and saw the new national stadium. Don't think it was quite open yet, and couldn't really get near it, just walked around the outer perimeter. But a lovely looking big stadium.
