Driving instructors

Deciding to take the leap of faith and do some driving lessons. Looking to just maybe do a couple to start off with to get a feel for it, with a view to then maybe doing an intensive course or something but god knows at this point.

Any recommendations? I'm Holyrood based.

I don't know any for that area but you might find you have a wee bit of a wait given the mo the that many others were u able to get any lessons. Thi go might have died down now though. Good luck.

Buy lessons in blocks of 10 of you can too. Will save you a bit.

I think from lesson 1 right through to passing (with 1 fail), passing theory first time. I spent about £700.

Cheers man. Yeah there seems to be a wait with some of the bigger schools. Will maybe try some of the more independent ones tomorrow.

Had a look online but there's loads. Would rather have a reliable one to go to if I can find one from experience.

£33 an hour! Was about £25 for me 4 years ago.

I was paying £9 per hour lesson. Obviously it wasn't exactly yesterday.

I used to be a grade 5 driving instructor.  If you want to do intensive training make sure it’s over a number of days instead of cramming it into a full morning or afternoon, two hours a day max as learners tend to have a meltdown if they have any more.  Get an automatic car, far easier and definitely the way ahead.  I eventually ditched teaching manual and just went fully automatic.

Make sure your instructor if fully qualified (passed part 3) and displaying a green badge on the window.  Trainee driving instructors who have only passes part two will be displaying a red triangle (BSM use loads of them).  Not being disrespectful or trainee instructors but, the pupil should not be paying them full price if they’re not fully qualified, I’ve always took that stance.

I passed a couple of years ago and totally agree with doing 2 hour lessons, I'd taken lessons years before and 1 hour twice a week just didn't work for me, doing at least 2 x 2hour lessons a week meant I wasn't wasting 10 mins out of every hour on being picked up/reviewing what we'd done last lesson etc and I actually ended up having to cut back on lessons as I was ready for my test well before I actually could get an appointment

And £18 for me in the same sized blocks 10 years ago  Thought that was ridiculous at the time (until I got my first Insurance quote anyway...)
