Gentlemen and ladies, please stop bickering because I bring you tidings of comfort and great joy.

Santa has been and he's in blinding form.  In addition to an Aussie defender and the usual books, he's brought me two bottles of Baileys.

Those of you who've been good boys are in for a treat.

Don’t remember an Australian player for us nicknamed “Skippy”?

If there was then I suggest “Bouncer” Ramsey streets most famous Labrador.

Perhaps even The Bouncer.

**** knows it’s Christmas and I’m on the Lagers!!

Happy Christmas!!!

Three and a half years also allows him to sit around being a massive wage thief   If things don’t pan out. But hey. We have seen that so many times before it is old hat. Hopefully he does live up to his Youtube clips though. 👍

He looks some player,  you ragin' aye ? 😂

No. Not raging. Just trying to temper my enthusiasm for new players coming in. That way if they live up to the billing it will be joyous rather than being hacked off if they don’t. In Savage we trust!!!😂

I've worked it out to be around 75-80k possibly.    Could be anything though.

I don't think we would have tried to scrimped on it. I think we would want to be thought of as good guys where we do this sort of stuff. As in not blotting our copybook.

It looks like a great deal if it is 75 k or thereabouts.    I don't know if they get training fees like the UK.

I think Souttar might be off so that balances it out.    Just have to wait and see.

Loving the recruitment approach these days. Give Savage and Neilson a Christmas bonus. It's night and day from the scattergun, reactive approach of recent seasons.

Sign a keen, promising young player to challenge the older first-choice player, not a punt or future prospect but someone who can challenge Smith straight away, the way Devlin did with Halliday and Haring. Plus we've got a young academy RB waiting in the wings. This kind of planning in advance is fantastic. So much better than doing what we did with players like Djoum, Paterson and Sow and not having a replacement lined up or already at the club, meaning we were screwed when they left. It took us years to replace all of those players adequately as a result.

This guy sounds exactly what we need on the right. Only downside is I was holding out hope for a Calum Paterson return.

I know exactly what I was suggesting, e.g. try and sign a really good striker but as per usual as many on here would agree, you jump in with your own assumption and conclusions looking to pick a fight.

You know but I was asking you to let us know so we can learn what the club are not doing that you think they should. I'm not trying to pick a fight, merely seeking clarification.

And we all know we should try and sign a striker as even RN has publicly stated this.  Are you suggesting they haven't pushed the boat out enough?  What exactly do you mean?

PS - It looks as though you are trying to pick a fight with another poster

Hi, Aussie football fan here, you've signed an absolute cracker in Nathaniel Atkinson.

I predict that if he can overcome the hamstring problems that have held him back till now, that he will end up in a top five League, probably the Premier League.

This guy is absolutely fearless, probably too much so for his own good, can play right wing and left fullback as well as right fullback.

Pity that there doesn't seem to be a lot of video footage of him on You Tube, but I'd describe him as an all action type of player who loves to get forward but good defensively as well.

Not sure how much the club can afford in transfer fees but another Aussie player who I think has a big future is Riley McGree, a no 10 mainly, also involved in  the Olympics like Atkinson.  Would rather see him stay in Europe than go the MLS which I think is a waste for his talent.

In summary with minimal injuries  Atkinson should be a brilliant signing.

I'm hoping that you, Mick, have Hearts connections. If you are new to us then welcome. Thanks for the precis. If Nathanial matches Devlin then we'll be delighted.

Hearts have had a few right good Aussie players in the not too distant past; all of whom have done their very best.

Merry Christmas. 🥂

I may have missed a link but I'm not sure how this absolute pornography hasn't been posted here yet. This is from the Grand Final, the final game of the league playoff competition where Melbourne City (things I just learned: the were originally founded as Melbourne Heart) won their first league title this year.

Atkinson was named Man of the Match, which judging from the highlights, was an understatement of his influence. He is absolutely everywhere in these highlights. Scores the first goal, creates the penalty for the second, hits a lovely looping pass to set up a volley that draws an incredibly save from the keeper, and on the the final goal he's in position to run behind the defense. He also gets in the face of a Sydney midfielder (who ultimately gets a second yellow) after he undermines a city player.

Long way to go and lots of things can happen but bottom line, if he does anything like this in Scotland he's going to win us a ton of games and sell on for a huge fee.

They’re taking the piss out of the league champions trophy itself, which is circular and was branded “the toilet seat” years ago by various club supporters 😆

Melb City fan here too folks and long time JKB member - I won’t go into additional detail as many valid observations and opinions already raised. But he’s a gun this kid - gutted that we won’t have him at City anymore but very proud he’ll be at the Famous. Only issue I have was a brief comparison to Garrucio earlier in the thread…Natty is at another level to Ben completely.

I guess if Ricardo Carvalho played for us in his pomp, he'd be asked to do all the attacking and defending!

I remember carvalho as a classy ball playing CH, so it is not too much of a stretch to extrapolate that to a RB. Think Sergio Ramos was a very good RB then moved to being a very good CH

Carvalho, big shoes to fill...he was a magnificent player. Half of my top rated EPL defensive pairing.

If he's half as good I'll be delighted!

Welcome.

Disappointed he didn't get a 10 minute run out last night.

While it's difficult to tell with all the training gear on, he looked much smaller and slighter than I was expecting 😬.

Would have preferred him to get on instead of Halliday - he's 5 ft 11 so same height as...   Michael Smith?!! Just searched that out of curiosity, is Michael Smith really only an inch shorter than Halkett?

While we need to take it seriously (especially given last year's debacle!!), I wonder if this wekeend is a good chance to give him some gametime.

(Was also wondering if we might rest Halks - while his combative style would suit the occasion and pitch - we need him fit)  Maybe Smith in to CH with Natty wide.
