15 year old shooter.

Rest in Peace those who lost their lives to this senseless violence.

My wife spent her childhood in the next town over, and we still have close family in the area. So this hits even closer to home than most of these awful events. Just waiting for The Onion to re-post their normal article now...

It will never dawn on the American psyche, no guns, no shootings. Unfortunately the firearm is entrenched in their culture and psyche.

That was Trump's suggested solution when he was President. Madness.

This was the 138th gun incident in US schools. In 2021 alone.

Around 12.5 a month so we can expect another dozen or so before the end of the year. And still nothing will change.

Just one day before the shooting, a teacher said she saw the boy searching online for ammunition, which prompted a meeting with school officials, Ms McDonald said.

After being informed of the incident, Mrs Crumbley texted her son: "LOL I'm not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught."

If they can't get a gun they will pick up a knife. If they want to kill they will. Look at London not long ago it was on the news all the time for the stabbings.

Yes, you can kill people with knives.

But not as fast or as easily as with guns.

And it's considerably easier to disarm or evade a knifeman than it is a gunman.

This is why London stabbings are usually only either a single victim or half a dozen at the most, not the scores you see in the States with gun rampages.

The USA has a murder rate off the charts in comparison to all other high income Western countries. It's a minimum of 5 times the UK murder rate almost entirely fueled by guns. In the US 30 to 40 people will be murdered by a gun today, tomorrow, every day. That's nothing like the UK and knives.

The U.S have about 40x the population so the murder rate is always going to be higher. If 2 people get murdered in the UK today its actually worse here.

That's not how murder rates work.

Per 100,000 population, the UK has a murder victim rate of 1.2

Per 100,000 population the USA has a murder victim rate of 5.

5 is more than 1.2

Except that it wasn't the father's gun, as the parents had bragged on social media about them buying their son a gun for christmas, they even posted a photo of it.

The parents are in a shit load of trouble, especially the mother, when she texted the son telling him not to do it, this implies to me at least, that the mother knew before hand what he was planning to do, if that's the case then the mother could be up on murder or accessory to murder charges herself.

Sorry a knife does not have the same lethality as a semi automatic rifle.  Do you think with the knife attack on London Bridge which killed two people, members of the public would have intervened if the nut job had a rifle?

maths is not your strong point. the USA has a population of around 330M the UK 67M. Thus the USA population is approximately 5 times that of the UK no 40 that you claimed

She also laughed it off when she was informed by a teacher that he was searching online for ammo. She’s up to her neck in it.

The actual detail of this case such as that there is no requirement for gun cabinet to be locked tell a lot about the problem.

Not sure how blaming the parents here does much more than defect from the wider issues.

When your child fantasises about performing a school shooting, don't buy that child a gun.

When your school flags up your child searching the internet to buy ammo, don't laugh it off and tell your child "next time don't get caught".

When your child goes on to murder 4 people in a school shooting, don't go on the run after being charged with manslaughter.

It's all fairly simple stuff.

Have you read anything about the case?

Because there is a reason why the parents have been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, seemingly it's only happened 4 times before in American history that the parents have also been charged along with the shooter.

When caught looking for ammo online at school his mum texted him saying she wasn't upset, he had to learn not to get caught.

When the school called them in to insist he be put into counseling after he seemed to be losing it they resisted, took him home and let him go back to class. This is when it all kicked off. It was them who bought him the gun.

The parents in this case, in my opinion, are just as culpable as their son. The warning signs were there and yet they bought a gun in which they kept in an unlocked drawer. And the mum tells him not to get caught next time he’s looking to buy ammo online.
They might as well have pulled the trigger themselves.

If the parents get jail so be it.

But then that's thousands of parents and others who have got off lightly.

Any time a child touches a gun.

Absolutely nothing has changed since Columbine, Thurston and Westside.

The USA is very close to becoming an anarchistic failed state.

What??? Do you think the US is China which does indeed have around 40x the UK population? The US has around 5 times the population of the UK and around 22,000 or so murders per year. Let's be kind to them. Call it just 20,000.

The UK has somewhere between 600 and 700 murders per year. Let's be unkind to them, call it 700.

So the US with around 5 times the population should have 5 times the murders if they were alike. That would give the US about 3,500 murders per year.

The actual figure for 2020 was 21,570 murders. Explain to me why that's so much higher. Because I'm naively linking it to guns considering the vast majority of the 21,570 were indeed killed by guns.

Not sure of the authenticity of this picture, the gun bottom left is an M60 belt fed medium machine gun used by the military and the bottom right is a Thompson machine gun, circular magazine type of thing (think Chicago gangster/untouchables), You could not buy these over the shelf in America.

Girls face in the middle looks stuck on.

They are all still a bunch of bampots though.
