Anything by Lalo Schifrin ( Bullit for example)

Halloween by John Carpenter- fascinating backstory to that one.

Dirty Harry soundtrack is brilliant.

I prefer the soundtrack to Halloween 3. Great film too.

I’ve already cheated. As in when you told me it wasn’t Heat I looked it up.

A favourite occasional treat is watching a movie with the score performed live by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra…

I've never tried something like that.

It’s an excellent experience. Couple of thousand people there so feels like a proper event. Have seen Ratatouille, Star Wars, Return of the Jedi and - my favourite so far - Jaws. The orchestra has to get special permission to show the movie without normal soundtrack. Hope they continue post-lockdown.

Bullet time maybe, but that had also already been used a Smirnoff advert, so it wasn't new technology.

Thematically, The Matrix is far more like "Dark City". (Which is also worth watching for Jennifer Connelly looking superb)

i think they used some of the same sets for both dark city and the matrix, specifically the rooftop scenes. also if anyone is going to watch dark city make sure it is the directors cut. i wont say why just that i believe alex proyas the director was angry about the opening of the theatrical release and later managed to get the version he wanted released on dvd

Great shout.

Thanks.

It's a film I've watched once and probably won't watch again, despite being a work of genius.

A horrible, brilliant film.

When I saw the thread title this was the first one I thought of.

Underrated film also 👍

I've mentioned it on another thread but surface of the sun (sunshine) by John Murphy is beautiful

This thread has gone off in a tangent with those who don't know the difference between a score and a soundtrack.

I would add a couple more:

Trent Reznor + Atticus Ross - The Social Network

Daft Punk - Tron Legacy

I can’t think of a film where the composed music is such a perfect fit to every other element in it as Amelie. Such a brilliant film in terms of design.
