Did anyone go?

Was there on the Sunday which was the first date they put on sale. Coach and ticket package which seen us leave the Mound at midnight on the Saturday. It was quite insane. Wasn't nearly as good as Maine Road.

Edit: it was of course midnight on the Sunday morning. Doh!

I hear Earls Court was their best.

'This is history, this is history!'  Shows how far he was up his own arse by that stage.  Either that or the Charlie.

Probably the latter as they released all around the world at roughly the same time.

Don't mind Noel though.

I was at the Loch Lomond gig around the same time. I remember Cast being good but I don't remember much of the headliner. :drunk:

Was more of an "event" than a concert.  P

I like them both. I ****ing loved Liam at their peak but Noel was right though when he said by the time they split people were tired of them. The music was boring as well it was all so samey and Liam’s voice was awful live then. It’s not what it was understandably I guess.
They can both still do the odd song -liam more so since he went solo - but generally they should both just do loads of interviews imo they’re both funny guys.
I do think they will get it together again. Needs to be fairly soon though.

Still waiting on the new Guns n Roses album....

I would be surprised if it ever happened, and it would be shite anyway, now that they're old and sober.

I think Oasis would be the same scenario, they would get back together for the money, and just tour like ****, playing old songs.

Noel doesn't need the dough though, that's the difference.

Loch Lomond for me on 3rd August 1996. My first ever gig. DreadZone, Heavy Stereo, Cast, Black Grape and Manics were the support from memory. Loved the day!

Tickets were on sale pre-Internet sales times which meant an early rise to join the queue for Virgin Megastore. The cost was approx £30 IIRC.

I can't see a reunion and don't think there is a need or demand for it. Noel has got the ideal set-up just now and writing some great stuff with David Holmes in tow.

Oasis have some decent tunes, i can play married with children and she's electric on the guitar (both are basically the same chords, ha) , but the only music i ever bought from them was a cassette of stand by me at the airport. (there wasn't much choice)

I saw Liam in a different light doing celebrity goggle box and he just looked and sounded like a guy from a scheme wat6telly with his son and mum.   You can tell he is willing to play the game for the sake if it.

They will do together again on the music front.

Also think they are playing the game with all the not talking stuff.

They just set up a joint company and there's no way they aren't communicating.

Good on them for having the media eating out of their hands.

Noel is genuinely funny.   He called the beach boys a barber shop quartet.  Brilliant.

Noel can only dream of being in the same league as of the beach boys. That's Noel's problem, he thinks he's some sort of usic God. He's D list when it comes to the true greats like The Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Jam, The Clash, Sabbath and Queen.

And Liam could never sing. People are fecking deaf.

I've never bought anything by them.  I do like a handful of songs.   I think some oasis fans see it as the song where they changed, but I really like Whatever.  Love the arrangement etc.  I know it's a neil innes rip off but still a good song.  So is the original How sweet to be an idiot.

I think noel just says things and wouldn't take him seriously.

Just guys from schemes that cracked it.  That inspires others that's fine by me.

A friend of a friend worked with them when Oasis were still going.

Liam is all act. He's a genuine guy and will do anything for anyone.

Noel on the other hand...

I don't mind noel and his interviews but he he is supposed to be a wee shite if any friends disagree with him.

Martin Compton used to be mates with him but he cracked a football joke  that he didn't like and noel now doesn't talk to him and is out of his 'circle of friends'.  Ffs.

I'd see it as a compliment if someone was that much of an erse about a joke.

Definitely saw liam in a different light on google box.  Just a guy that's cracked it.

I saw Oasis at Murrayfield back in 2000 supported by the doves and happy Mondays.

There’s a video online of Liam doing a Q & A session with some primary school kids. It’s really good and you can see there’s definitely something genuine about him.

Not all the time if you read the chapter about him in Mark Lanegan’s book.

I almost agree with you. Can't stand noel at all, feel he is too far up his own arse. Always like listening to Liam though.

Did he not lose his teeth after getting wide with folk in a German restaurant? Turns out they were Italian gangsters.

From what I heard they were not mates but knew each other via a common acquaintance. Compston had been a bit of an arse when drunk in public and Noel wants nothing to do with him.

Didn’t make it to Knebworth but I was at Maine Road a few months before.

The Supersonic documentary from 2016 was excellent, so hoping this is as good.

Did anyone go to the Irvine Beach gig? That was great, Verve supporting too 🙌🏼

OASIS lead singer Liam Gallagher was beaten up by a group of estate agents and computer salesmen in a nightclub fracas 17 months ago, not gangsters as was originally claimed, according to Munich police.

Even better that it wasn't gangsters.  I wonder if that put a stop to the verbal swaggering when in pubs etc.

Lesson probably learned.

It’s very good. Not a barrel of laughs but very honest, and alarming at what a life he’s lived all the way from being a kid. Makes the “celebrity junkies” all the more laughable.

Great at the time but they haven't aged well. No interest in Liam or Noel's stuff nowadays.

I went to Loch Lomond and then the Etihad (when it was the commonwealth stadium) to see them. Both enjoyable gigs.

I was the odd one out growing up, all my mates would gush over Oasis and I thought they were shite. Couple of no bad songs but overall couldn't stand them.

Sure I heard in an interview that it was around them all being at Gordon Smart’s house and Compston coming down the stairs in a Celtic top and quite aggressively calling Noel’s wife a “zombie” over and over.

I heard it was something to do with a Celtic top but didn't know it was about Noel's wife.

He doesn't seem to be a very forgiving person though as I'm sure it said in the thing I read that once you are out of 'his circle' that's it.

Yeah I’m sure it was the interview Gordon Smart did with Si Ferry that I heard it.

On the subject of the film I thought it was good and I really enjoyed it. However, the “just 5 lads from a council estate” patter gets tiring after a while. Surprised Noel hasn’t tried to trademark that phrase.

It's like they are the only band with that background to make it.

Haven't seen the film but have seen the Gordon Parks interview.  I enjoyed it.  Liked the story about the first time he went to Jim leismans house.

What's the oasis movie called and what platform?  Ta

I like how noel was honest about supposedly stoming into king tuts and demanding a gig or theyll cause bother

He said there was no way 5 wee guys would walk into a weedgie pub and fast away with that.

He said they asked nicely.
