I am really looking forward to reading it but I would recommend that rather than buying it from Amazon, you buy it from the club shop or a bookshop. Amazon take a huge % from books that other places don't

Aye.

Straight from the club.

Took about a millisecond to decide on this purchase. Robbo...A Gift from God would have also been a good title too, seeing as he is. Nothing but love for that wee  man. My hero, so glad that I was one of the lucky ones to witness his whole career.

He's famed for his total recall. Nothing will be left out.

He is, by a margin, the person who has given me most enjoyment watching the Hearts.

Canny wait till the book signing.

Just got two tickets for my dad n I. Total legend of a man

Is that the evening with Robbo ? or the one with Souness ?

I was considering going to the Souness one being a Liverpool fan but i'm no sure and no wanting to sit there listing to him possibly speaking of his time with Rangers.

I have harboured a grudge against JJ since 1998 for bringing on Jim Hamilton in place of Stephane Adam in the cup final.

It was unfortunate for John, but Jim Hamilton was more used as an extra defender against the late aerial bombardment that Rangers launched in those late minutes. We were hanging on and needed the height advantage that Jim Hamilton gave us during all those extra minutes at the end.

As things panned out, John got his winners medal. If we’d been 2 or 3 up, I’m sure JJ would have brought John on, but winning was paramount to end the long wait for a trophy. Sentiment couldn’t come into it.
If Rangers had equalised, we would have lost. Hearts were knackered and, in my opinion, would not have survived extra time. That would have been really devastating for all Hearts people, including John.

Am I right in thinking that the standard entry doesn’t include a signed book? I have the gold ticket, which includes a signed book, although not personally signed for me.

Would the only way to get another signed book, on the night for a Christmas present, be buying another gold ticket which may not be used by anyone, other than me getting another signed book?

It is probably obviously the case but I’m just asking to be sure I’m right.

I’ve been to these Eventbrite events (not footballers) before and they are superb. Expensive but worth it.

Id hope that Robbo would sign some copies for the club shop to sell as normal as well though but probably doubtful .

I can’t attend but will buy the book for sure

That is some claim to fame, I noticed you teasing about the book but didnt realise you were a contributor :)

Would love to make it down to the Pans but I have the kids Friday to Monday so any socialising has to be midweek.

It’s about time we did lunch and, funnily enough, books were always a reason. I’ll try and pick up a signed one for you if you’ve not ordered one elsewhere and we’ll meet up?

That would be very much appreciated. I am sure it is my turn to buy lunch (I think the last time was when you gave me the Stanley Matthews book back.....)

I dont work Mondays so that would suit me best.

How many does it need to sell to get on the best seller list, this will surely sell in the tens of thousands.

I can answer that.

It's not how many you sell, rather how much of that demand you can concentrate into one week. So, selling 20,000 copies over two years is one thing, whereas selling *just* 3,000 copies in one week is another - and the latter bags you a best seller. So, manipulate demand.

Thanks. I knew there would be a way of doing it, depends in what other books are selling that week also. I hope they’ve got enough copies printed for between now and Xmas.

Jambo dans les Pyrenees

Heard Robbo at an after dinner speech quite a few years ago, he's funny and his comic timing was spot on.

He was apparently the guy who gave Neil Pointin the nickname "Dissa"

🙂

Pretty sure it’s someone you’ve heard of. As for who ghost wrote it (assuming someone did), not sure.

been here before

Signed copies available to order via the shop.

Or "pre-order" if you're an easily excitable slack jawed fool who gets worked up over marketing bollocks.

Anyway clickety click....

It will be winging it's way here and wrapped up under the xmas tree.  Absolutely nothing else I want.

Hope his health and sense of wellbeing are back to 100%.

Now that I'm the owner, I'm going to push even harder for the Wheatfield to be named the Robertson/Mercer stand.

Robbo more than earned his medal over the previous 15 years or so. It definitely wasn't a time for sentiment. Those last minutes are the most tense I've ever experienced at a game considering what was at stake. Stevie Fulton was dead on his feet. Some of our tackling was incredible, Davie Weir's in the box right at the death probably won us the game. What a difference from the 2012 final when we were all sitting back puffing cigars for the last 40 minutes.

I met Robbos son Scott in the Tor ( I know I know) a couple of weeks ago. He is his dads absolute double right down to the voice and mannerisms. Nice guy, sat in our company for a bit chatting about his dad. Poor bugger is vermin though. Shame on him.

Interview in the guardian today.  Remarkable stuff that he almost signed for Ajax on the way back from Newcastle.  Never heard that before.

The Ajax one was news to me too.

Delighted that he came back to us, but wow... That could've been some experience for him.

Thanks for the link, as said a good read.

Bonus is to see again that picture with the Scottish cup in one hand and his other hand on his heart.  Thanks also to Jeff J Mitchell for taking it - don’t recall seeing him being credited for it before.
