Hamstring

So... After been struggling with mental health issues I joined gym again.

Really enjoying it. Getting up at 630am and getting into routine.

5miles bike, 1.5m running, 2000m rowing weights swim steam Spa.

Brilliant.

Went to make coffee this morning. Massive twang in leg.

Think I've done hamstring 😔

Any advice?

I'd probably leave the gym out today

Aye - sorry I couldn't be much more help!

Ice and rest would seem to be sensible advice.

If you're doing that routine every morning maybe your hammy is just saying it needs a rest?

Spa, as in sauna and steam room? Are they all open again? (the gym ones lads, not the ones with "extras" and happy endings)

I'm rejoining the local gym on Monday...

I joined a gym this week for the first time, did 3 mornings and now have elbow bursitis. 🙄

Aye its a holiday Inn. Full gym plus swim Spa etc 37 a month. Only downside is you have to book slot so you can't just turn up.

Yes but unfortunately it is an addiction. I'm at age where I'm not trying to be an addonis(again) just trying to fight ravages of time. If I don't go every day I know I'll stop. If that makes sense. Anyway leg is getting better. Managed a walk with dog but missus wants grass cut.... "sweetheart I wish I could but jkb says need to rest. Yes I think I could manage a beer. Where's remote?"

Sounds like nature's way of telling you to stay in your bed, not go to the gym and just go for a walk later in the day.   That's what I do       . . . .  .  .  .      but I am a fat git.

Better than cheese strings.

But aye, you're just going to have to take take a couple of weeks off.

I started doing the weights like i was still in my 20's, it was all good for a month or so, then i woke up with pain in my shoulder after a day of not even doing anything, still got it, 3 weeks later.

I had it once before a few years back though and it eventually went away.

Could well be a torn intercostal muscle. I’m currently suffering with just that. Started lifting weights again and like you woke up with terrible pain in the shoulder. Pain seems to move front to back as well? So pain in the chest?

Mine spasms as well so sneezing causes enormous pain!

3 weeks with it and it’s finally going.

Tearing my hamstring was one of the most painful injuries I’ve had

Yeah it stopped me playing completely. It's the sound you hear in your head that's the worst bit

I'm going back to the gym this week. But I have a shoulder injury that just fecks everything up. Hopefully I can work my way around it this time or I'll be done for good with gym.

Yep the noise/feeling of any muscle going stays with you for a long time. Hopefully it’s just a strain and the RICE protocol helps

Anyone ruptured an achilles before? Did it 3 months back playing football after over doing it coming out of lockdown 😔 Been a hellish time..

If there is no bruising it’s likely grade 1. Rest it for 3 weeks and then see how it is. Apply ice and keep it elevated.
