You wish to be insulted? We're all entitled to our opinions and as Prime Minister of the UK he's meant to represent us all not denigrate.

As Sturgeon said of that Godley woman and her chain of offensive tweets: "Och (sic), these things happen"

And they are not in token positions either, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary, Health Secretary are all senior government positions, all occupied by people from an ethnic minority backgrounds.

Don't know what Godley said but she's not the Prime Minister of the UK. Nicola Sturgeon hasn't called Scots "verminous". You bash on though with your views. Everyone needs called out.

That reply should be getting thrown at her every time she talks about racism.

Between her and the record not reporting any of it, it seems racism is just one of these things.

Looks like taking the knee is here to stay if our first minister won't address the issue.

Enzo, you are a fair minded poster, and I'm sure it's not beyond you to post the full text of what the First Minister said in regards to the Godley creature...Wouldn't want you to be seen to use selective quoting to bolster a point.  :)

Of course KvC, she did go on to make further comment and criticise the tweets.  Just ro be clear, I wasn't trying to be selective, although she then appeared to lament the fact that modern society was unforgiving ( my word not hers) .

But seriously KvC, as an equally fair minded poster, substitute Janey Godley for Boris Johnson and, honestly, do you think the tone or the opening gambit from Sturgeon would be  "Och well, these things  happen ".  That's the acid, or Nationalist, test.

Just for clarity, her words included and I paraphrase,  "beyond the pale" "I will in no way shape or form seek defend them"

As you brought Johnson up,  he has a litany of idiotic mumblings including racist and homophobic language.

He has,  by and large, been excused by our 4th estate and this has emboldened other even more horrific political wannabes.

To be clear,  I think NS would have been all over a gaffe such as this if it were made by Johnson and quite rightly so :)

Well, of course, Johnson gets a far rougher deal from the 4th estate in England than Sturgeon does in Scotland. His comments are, in many ways down to buffoonery rather than malice but, I'll ask you again, do you genuinely think that Sturgeon, a woman who has spent her entire life harbouring an irrational hatred of all things Tory, would preface her comments with "och well, these things happen.."

Which is why modern politicians of all hues are only out to further their own agendas and ambitions.

Buffoonery? No, there's enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that he knows exactly what he is doing and that he holds some of those opinions.

I can't see a transcript of the" Och well" but that's not to say she did not say it,  however I would suggest that it is trumped by the remainder of her statement.

Any hatred of the tories isn't irrational and there needs to be moar,  much MOAR of it! ;)

I'm off out shortly so I'll bid you a good evening, Enzo.

She will regret that 'these things happen' comment.  Basically won't be able to comment on any discriminatory comments from other politicians.

She also should've had someone research godley's Twitter history before saying she was her alter ego.

Very foolish comment that will restrict anything she says on this subject in the future.

She didn't say that about that Godley woman and her chain of offensive tweets.

Here's the actual question she was responding to.

And more of the interview.

The good thing about the Sturgeon comment regarding it being 'one of these things' is the tories pulling her up for it.  It'll be refreshing to see them now have to come down heavy on any member using racist language etc.

Was it Boris or another tory who called Muslim women pillar boxes?

Godley has unwittingly done us all a favour in that everyone will now get taking to task for similar comments.

The tories criticising anyone for dodgy comments is laughable.

The unionists on here really are scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to compare what a Scottish comedian comes out with against what the PM has come out with. And then totally lying about what the FM said in her statement. And the tory branch office doing the same beggars belief. I really didn't think the unionists could sink any lower but I was wrong.

There's a few moon howlers amongst them. Contort everything to fit their narrative just so they can say SNP bad! It's weird behaviour especially as we have a rancid Westminster government.

Barely one in four Scots want an early independence referendum and even a majority of SNP voters oppose the move, according to an opinion poll that prompted claims Nicola Sturgeon is "out of touch".

I see she is doing nothing about the Greens refusing to acccept  the International Holocaust Rememberance Alliance as they consider Israel a racist state despite the SG endorsing it and all ministers expected to sign up to it

Shameful little party

Never mind though Alba passed a motion at their conference yesterday to do away with the Queen and form a republic with a president on any independence.

President Salmond !

Watched the Alba conference and was really impressed with a lot of it. Lots of passionate speeches from Chris McEleny, Eva Combrie & Salmond among others. Really liked the 5 point plan to tackle child poverty and found it pretty disturbing how poverty seems to be pretty much ignored whilst Sturgeon obsesses over the trans issue. It seems that the SNP has become a party utterly consumed by middle class handwringing. I see they are now frantically trying to back peddle on trying to ban protests outside the parliament too (appreciate its the corporate body, but that is still made up of SNP and Green members with Maggie Chapman allegedly being the one to have proposed it (Green)).

Anyway, going into the local elections, it sounds like they have a solid plan to make inroads and give people the option to elect local councillors not constrained by a centralised SNP administration dictating how money can and cannot be spent. Personally, cannot think of anything worse than continuing on with the current incumbents in Edinburgh - believe its SNP/Labour? The roads are a total disaster compounded with this spaces for people shite that they've shoved through sneakily via emergency legislation, Stockbridge is a complete shambles for example.

Despite the lack of success in the Scottish Parliament elections, I think the local elections gives Alba a good chance to be loud with their message and if successful give the Scottish government pause for thought on what appears to have been a hijacking of the independence movement to guarantee electoral success. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Oh how we laugh at them but, seriously,  can you imagine what an independent socialist republic of Scotland would look like. Harvie, Sheridan, Sturgeon, Janey Godley, Jean Jeanie Freemason and Angela Constance at the helm.

Mercifully, the brains and the critical thinkers will have fled and it will only be the rats, the schemies and the dirty syringes that would be left.

Good luck with that!

SGNP are a militant tendency alliance in my book so it makes sense they identify with full blown militants like Hamas and their violent anti Semitism. Israel in their myopic world view is an evil oppressor like England.
