It will be, the Greens doomsday predicitons are time and time again disproved.  They have quite simply not hit the jackpot with anything they have predicted.

So endless refugees, increased population, ageing population and constant job losses and folk are worried about the polar ice caps melting

There has to be limits! We need balance.

The Greens purport to be a socialist party for the 'worker' and 'for the people' when all I see them want to do is put people out of work.

An end to all man made CO2 by 2030 or whatever it is means no industry in 9 years time.

I read somewhere that volcanoes actually produce almost as much CO2 emisisons than humans - what we going to do about that?

There's **** all we can do about volcanoes. There is a lot we can do to reduce human impact on the environment.

I'm not saying there aren't flaws in their ideas as is. Even the mainstream parties ideas of banning petrol and diesel cars seem unworkable to me just now. **** trailing a 50ft power cable from your top floor flat to charge your car.

I don't disagree we need to do our bit but as per usual the focus is on the less populated, less guilty western countries whilst India, China and Russia are doing **** all and no ***** gives a shit.

We do more than our bit.

I would think their argument is "If you think we have refugee problems and job losses now, and not enough resources for the increasing population, just wait until all the low coastal areas are under water."

I suppose it's a bit like being in a group project. If one person isn't pulling their weight, you'll have to put in more effort to make sure you pass. It's massively unfair but saying "Well, I'm not doing anymore until China pulls their ****ing finger out." just means the group fails.

So we compromise our lifestyles whilst they continue with business as usual there.

We, in Scotland, Wales, NI and England have nothing to be ashamed about or to apologise about with regards to carbon footprint etc.

Russia, China and India should harbour mostly all the burden on their shoulders.

6,000 people are employed at Faslane.  That is 6,000 people out of work.  Now say that associated dependants, mouths to feed from the 6,000 will be around 20,000 - 25,000 people.

That is 25,000 overnight in financial hardship.

Almost every demand I see from these ***** means job losses and financial hardhship somewhere - they just don't care.

Debenhams and the Arcadia Group made about 15,000 people redundant and no one batted an eyelid.  Why should staff at be Faslane be treated any differently?

I think the UK is responsible for 1% of Global greenhouse gas emissions and China 29%.

That said, I'm very much in favour of Green policies in general. In fact, I would probably vote for the Greens if I didn't live in Scotland.

It's not fair. But look at it like this. Let's say you share a flat with someone. The other person is a dirty *******, never cleans up after themselves, dirty dishes and rubbish all over the place. They refuse to clean up after themselves.

Now, they're a lot bigger and stronger than you, so you can't physically threaten them. And there's no other flats available for you to move in to, so it's this one or nothing.

Do you just say "**** it, I'll live in a pigsty" or do you do your best to try and make it hospitable?

But they won't. So that just leaves the rest of us. It's a shit state of affairs that we have to take the burden, but if we don't, we'll be ****ed even sooner.

Although, personally, I'm still hoping we'll crack nuclear fusion in my lifetime and most of these issues will disappear.

I've lived with soemone like that to be fair (apart from the physically stronger) - she was a right midden.

We are actually paying for it in our taxes disproportionately though.  We are paying for China and India.  6 pence in every 100 pence we pay in tax goes towards the environment.  That is a staggering amount.  6% of all the time you work (minus taxable allowance) goes to make the planet better - that is pretty good going Norm.  This is over a full days work every month to 'do our bit'.

Wee greetin face Greta seems to continually side swipe the big 2 guilty parties and focus on those countries who really are doing lots.  Probably because they wouldn't give the little rodent air time.

A big talking point in the carbon neutral discussion is moving towards electric cars, etc.

The UK has c35m vehicles on the road and c42k charging points. With several large car manufacturers stopping petrol / diesel car production in the near future the roll out of charging points needs to speed up rapidly.

Mobile phones and the internet has been around for 25+years and there are still large parts of the country where you can’t get a signal. What hope is there for a programme for rapid roll out of millions and millions of charging points?

Have our Government (UK or Scotland) got any serious plans to put the infrastructure in place? And will the grid cope?

I think the green argument is if the big 3 polluters aren't going to do their bit, our bit just isn't enough anymore. We need to take on their share too. Unfair? Massively. But rising sea levels don't give a **** about fair.

We could simply stop doing business with these 3, China in particular - that would help reduce their carbon footprint. Sadly, we have reduced ours partly by closing down our factories and buying the goods from China!

Estimates have electric cars up to 80% of the emissions of petrol and diesel cars.

Te electric cars I’m sure heard that the National Grid asked people to charge there cars at night because of the drain on the grid during the day. Now what happens when the there is a steep rise in electric vehicles will the grid in its current shape cope?

There needs to be a grown up conversation about just how green the life cycle of an electric vehicle is, let alone how countries are going to power them.

The current infrastructure both at generation and distribution levels right through to how people are practically going to charge all these electric cars ain't going to do it.

Any way I have taken a small step towards helping the environment. I just had PV panels installed on the house. They certainly reduce the cost of electricity especially during the day but it has also reduced my bank balance by £7k ouch but I thought it was worth it. I’m thinking of adding a battery to it but that will cost another £5k wow Interesting I’m in Tenerife at the moment and a battery for the PV panels is £350 so I’m puzzled as to why a battery back in Scotland will cost me £5k not withstanding installation of the battery.

Not even 40 years.

I'm not sure you will have your mind changed but the reality is that acceleration of what was predicted is happening .

The oil giants own research predicted what's now happening 50 years ago.

Although it was slightly out as it's worse.

Social unrest and yes mass migration is predicted in less than 10 years.

All due to climate changes.

The only question is .

Is it too late.

I always thought I'd only perhaps catch the start of it.

I might live through it .

Unless you deny the evidence and the overwhelming science then the claim of us being better than others is hollow.

Anyway I doubt you will be persuaded by me.

There was a piece on BBC news not long ago, where old mines in Cornwall will have to be reopened to mine for the Lithium for the batteries amongst other minerals/metals.  These mines were mothballed years ago, but are now viable again.  The production of the battery has an enviromental cost to them.

The argument is that humas are not changing the climate.  Potentially I would agree we may be speeding it up but this is many many thousands of years away.

Yer insects and flying ones especially just dont seem to be as prevalent.

Have you driven recently in rural areas?

Note the lack of road kill on your widows compared to years ago?

All of this is related .

And although small its effect on life is immense.

The oceans micro life has a massive impact on our well being.

Since the world was formed about 4.5 billion years ago there has been an estimated 5 billion species on the planet.

Currently today there is only an estimated 5 million species alive.

It is called mother nature, although some have become extinct because of humans.
