Yes Robbie has beaten Rangers before, not Celtic, Hibs and Aberdeen yes.

Er, what? Come on mods. It's so obvious.

You are exactly who Robbie was looking at when he made his famous “go watch City or Utd” quote.

He saw you, he heard you and he thought to himself “he’s never been a Hearts fan in his cream puff”

I hated him before he said that and nothing much has changed, you pay your money you want entertainment, it will be sparingly available under Neilson, yet he is in denial.

Does anyone in Scotland pay money to watch a football match expecting entertainment?

He’s not much of a scorer of goals 😆

We used to be a win at all costs team. For some reason since admin fans have went all vermin on us and demanded style and suave.

It never worked for them and it's no wonder it hasn't for us either.

I honestly couldn't give a shiny shit how we play as long as we win.

Tonight’s match report

Heard the stream was a bit dodgy, can assure you that you’s didn’t miss much.

Far from a classic but another win and another clean sheet.

A win on Sunday and we’ll be seeded for the next round which is what we’d be aiming for.

Delighted for Pollock 👍🏻

Workmanlike, some flashes, some mild trauma but as Hearts generally go in this cup as comfortable as I recall.

That was boring. It was though.
But.
It is a win and this time last year we would have been getting beat by teams like this.

I thought it looked over the line but aye :)

GMS had a howler last season too, missing some sitters in this group

I can’t remember the last time we were this comfortable in the group stages. Another easy win, clean sheet, qualified, job done! Play our strongest team v ICT to keep momentum going and keep building the confidence we seem to have! I know the opposition has not been the strongest but winning seems to be becoming a habit so long may that continue. Then bring on Celtic!

Not sure about that was the winter period Neilson had the poor patch.

Mate we won well done, but don't tell me that was a great performance, be honest do you think we played a good game tonight?.

You don't watch Scottish football,  you can't! The number of times bigger teams struggle against minnows is countless compared the the drubbings. We haven't conceded  a goal in this competition,t and have barely got out of 2nd gear. You have become a parody poster.

None of us should be surprised we're starting a season in solid fashion under Neilson. He's done it 4 times now, and if he continues this way when the league starts that'll be 5 out of 5 good starts. Celtic though is a toughie for the first game, although so were Hibs and Dundee to a lesser extent in previous seasons.

This thread was great for poking fun at the potentially racist commentator and hearing about the squirrels in @Governor Tarkin's and @jonnothejambo's gardens. Otherwise...

Hundreds of the blighters, jonesy. I think they have a barracks in the wood over the back hedge. Stupid buggers though, and totally inept at the swimming. I'm fishing drowned ones out of the old neighbour's water butt several times a week.

Pity there's not much eating on them, really.

If you have ambitions to do this line of work names like Ginnelly are not hard to pronounce and they look nothing like each other.

Tough opener, will need to raise the level to take anything. If  Midge beat them mid week that would help.

Cut The Crap

Qualified without incident, our main striker amongst the gold and a young midfielder off the mark. Decent enough start.

Didn’t actually lose a game the season before either. Won 2, Drawn 2 but failed to get the bonus point from one of the shootouts. Pedantic I know, but I do take your point, the draws felt like losses in that 19-20 group.

Never been quite so comfortable in the matches I don't think.

Except Irving debacle that made it difficult in the end

And couple of changes against ICT, but not wholesale. Which is the right thing.

Expect Gnando will get a start.

Unless we are desperate to be seeded.

Halliday or Haring, maybe even both to drop out, seems to be rotation for CMs mostly

Don’t care how we played as didn’t have to watch it.

Away win. 2 goals. Clean sheet. Need reinforcements for League campaign but that’ll do

Irving was actually the season before that again and on the park we were won 3, drawn 1 (and got the bonus point). The points deduction made it seem more problematic than it was.

Cathro aside we do seem to be pretty solid at navigating these groups (as we should) but not a lot of memorable matches for me over the years.

Hopefully we get our act together this season and we can be done with the farce of our annual meet up with ICT plus selected others. Thanks to the regional split and the seeding structure it has all become very repetitive each year.

I agree though that despite concerns from many over ‘performance’ this does feel particularly comfortable in comparison to previous group stages.

We have not been desperate for a goal this time or thrown any in.

One year ironically we drew with United under Neilson.

Group games record for Neilson is not an issue, its a knockout though, needs to get his joker out

No real surprises from this game…

Kingsley remains a weak link at the back.

Walkers best days are far behind him.

Our bench is very weak.

We need another goal scorer, CH and a creative CM.

We are playing better and look more dangerous…. But don’t look like a team able to challenge for a European spot this year.

100%.

Squad's done it's job but it's miles off what is required in the top tier.

Hopefully JS is on the job.

We won't know what's required in the top tier until we start playing the other teams. So far none of Celtic, D Utd, St Mirren, Livvy and Well have looked anything special in their competitive games. In fact, we've been the most convincing top tier team so far as all the others have had a scare and/or a tough game, against similar opposition apart from Celtic.
