They're about the only two musicals I like.

Lone Striker

The Greatest Showman.    Brilliant songs, and so many scenes where you just think " How the feck did they do that"

Some getting rather mixed up here with some musicals mentioned which weren’t written originally for the screen ! Most great musicals started off on on stage although “ Moulin rouge “ is a good shout !

In no particular order stage or screen

West side story

Hello Dolly

Funny Girl

South Pacific

Oliver

A star is born ( Judy version )

The wizard of Oz

The King and I

My fair lady

Showboat

Rocky horror picture show

Pennies from heaven

most Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films

South Park

Jesus Christ Superstar.

Even better on Stage.

I reckon I know every word of every song. Simply love it. The stage version with Tim Minchin and Mel C is wonderful.

Ben Forster as Jesus is utterly superb.

Saw stage version (on TV) with John Legend and Alice Cooper.

The very thought of Tim Minchin in play is enough to put me off. Ruins everything he is in. Mel C is okay.

She certainly was.

Also Jeremy Brett being in it was a surprise.

I was dragged along to see Moulin Rouge.  I knew nothing about it other than Ewan MacGregor was in it.  I spent the first 15-20 minutes wondering what the hell I was doing there, what the hell the film was about, before it finally started to sink in.  Ended up quite liking it.

Also liked The Greatest Showman.  Must be getting old.

But it probably boils down to memories of watching the old classics on a Saturday afternoon as a kid at my Gran's.  Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, etc.

No one's mentioned La La Land, a film I just have not been able to get into at all.
