Cade
Mo Farah has failed to qualify for the Olympics, despite UK Athletics bending the rules and putting on a special 10,000m race for the sole purpose of giving Mo a final chance of running a qualifying time. That's probably going to end his career. The British Championships is in crisis after the BBC refused to pay to cover the event, and no other broadcaster was found to step in. For the first time in decades, it's not being televised on terrestrial TV. Only on their YouTube channel. Viewing figures have fallen from 1.4million to 20,000. Beni
Andrew Butchart, one of the Scottish athletes selected for Tokyo has put his place in doubt after saying on a podcast he had faked a negative Covid test to allow him to get back into the UK. At least if he's scrubbed from the Olympic team he'll be in with a good shout at this year's Gerald Ratner awards for self sabotage. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/jun/29/andrew-butchart-faking-covid-test-investigated-uk-athletics-team-gb-tokyo

Cade
The middle and long distance track events usually have field competitions running at the same time. Always amusing to watch long jumpers having to wait for the long distance guys to run past before legging it across the track for their run-up. Mr Brightside
Lots of Scottish athletes making the male and females team for the Olympics. Possible medal opportunities in female 800m be male 1500m. I do enjoy watching track and field when it’s on tv. I think when it’s a greater distance than 5k it’s easy to lose focus on the race. The long jump/triple jump pit is nearly always located at the side of the running track, mainly due to the lengh of the run-up area, it's the high jumpers and javelin throwers who often have to wait until the runners pass by. There was one years ago when an Eastern European javelin thrower chucked it miles off course towards a group of runners warming up for a race. The guy was going radge trying to alert them while they were all too busy concentrating to hear him screaming. Missed them all thankfully.
