Right, come on, own up, which one of you is head of the Hibs marketing department?

The "this is our city" part is in serious danger of getting them a knock on the door from Trading Standards, as it's blatantly false advertising on 2 fronts:

1) They continually bang on about being from Leith, not Edinburgh.

2) They are absolutely mince, and their derby record is pathetic.

Maybe the map is just to help their support to actually find their way to the stadium on a match day?

It might be for recognition out-with our own country (just a guess)?

Not many folk will ask, but it gives a location when someone does ask ... Who da feck are Hibernian FC?

Of course, we've been asking that for years! (centuries!).

That thought entered my head, but it's just a badge and it's hardly likely to enlighten any non-Scots not in the habit of reading badges, and for any that do, it looks like they're called 'Hibernian Edinburgh' as they've somehow managed to miss off 'FC' that might infer 'Hibernian FC of Edinburgh'.  Just seems a strange thing to add to a badge, especially for a club that previously had to clarify, even to many of their own supporters, that they were not called 'Edinburgh Hibernian FC', just 'Hibernian FC'.

Ooft - all those lines. It graphically shows what happens when a body is riddled after so long as an injecting junky. Just say no, kids.

Leat it's custom made for them, just like their 'slope' shirt which wasn't at all an old Tottenham kit in different colours.

The map of Edinburgh which shows the highest number of either Hearts or H1b5 fans by postcode. Nuff said.

they have probably done this becuase they thought it would promote anger.

when in actual fact all it has prompted is increased laughter and division. Apart from the very obvious hearts dominance across every single measurable fact, success, H2H, fansbase or finances half their support don’t even recognise themselves as being from Edinburgh.

not only is it aka abortion of a kit they’ve somehow found a way to embarrass themselves again lol

What's even more confusing is that I know what the ship, harp and castle represent ... but what on earth is a football doing in there?

"This is our city"

Completely ignoring the fact they have one of the most pitiful derby records in european if not world football.

Heck we won about 4 games in a year and 2 were against them 🤣🤣

Even put them down last season too 🤣

That's one of the great unanswered questions, and I doubt we ever will get an answer👍

All very bizzare, don't exactly understand the purpose of claiming its their city - do their fans actually care if its their city or not? As others have pointed out there's very little evidence to promote that they run the city, some may argue that their stadium isn't even within the city of Edinburgh.  As for the strip its something bit different, fairplay but the promo of it is a bit small penis syndrome.

They have failed to heed advice I have freely offered them during the years.  I have suggested that while the bright, vomit green they have favoured is horrible, bottle green is simply not an option because of the obvious connotation.

I have always recommended that they do a Dundee Utd and change their identity from Irish to Scottish.  That they have failed to do so is to their detriment.

They could become lochend or leith United and play in black and white.  They might also reflect that having a map on their jersey which plots out the route from the Heart of Midlothian to Tynecastle probably wasn't carefully thought out.

Looks like the result of giving a toddler a pen and a Hibs top to occupy them for 10 minutes.

My exact first thought 😄

It's incredible they're pushing the "our city" thing given a) historical their fans love to say they're from Leith not Edinburgh and b ) their derby record is one of the worst in world football.

This absolutely qualifies as a Hibsed it.

This absolutely qualifies as a Hibsed it.

What's happened here is that they've done their usual.  Leapt upon the slightest hint of superiority - facts can't hide that they've finished above us for a few seasons now.

What they fail to realise is that it's a very temporary thing and also our record on the park against them even in that time is very business as usual including yet another Hampden humbling from a division below (due to a vote, mind you).

Like after 5-1 they beat us in the 3rd round and the commentators and all the hibbys were on about revenge and cathartic release.  Erm, 5-1?  No, one game didn't fix that.

And then more recently they had a wee run where we didn't win for a while and it was all about how tide had turned, but at any point had you changed the "last X games" stat, they weren't on top.  It was all very specific "over the last 9 games, Hibs have the better record.  If it was 12, or 5, it was even or we were ahead.  It's all just to make them feel better.

So we have a couple of tough years, while they are massively mediocre (yes including last season) and all of a sudden it's THEIR city.  It's sweet really.

They also fail to realise that we just get on with being better than them for the 95% of time that we undoubtedly are in that position.  We rub it in on derby day, yeah, but otherwise, we don't base whole marketing campaigns around it, or dine out on it in the media and have every single commentators creaming their knickers.  We just get on with being better than them.  Like the bigger club would.

See ya next season, ye trampy mutts.

Would you have said the same if it was a saltire or rampant lion?

But the point of football club identity - and branding - is to differentiate, to stand out, to assert what makes your club different to the rest.

Picking an emblem with no previous attachment, that is literally the name of some other clubs we compete with, on the flimsy pretext, the same flimsy pretext that could apply to all our competitor clubs is just odd.

We have 3 emblems already, adding a 4th for no reason seems pointless and manufactured.

Its a Hibs strip ffs, not a Scotland strip, or an Edinburgh Thistle strip.

You can take it to the bank that this is a Ron Gordon "initiative". He just sees one city and, being American where marketing is the key to everything, he thinks through marketing he can attract more fans to Hibs from all over the city. He simply doesn't get how football works in this country. People don't just choose a team. It's all about parental or mates' influence and where you live, and for Hibs that means Leith not Edinburgh. He also clearly has no idea just how dominant Hearts have been throughout the history of Edinburgh football, aside from a spell in the 70s.

I’ve never considered Hibs regardless of name as Irish.   Lochend/Leith, the ones that have in them not to glory hunt to Celtic and kid on it’s because of second uncles sisters parrot was born in Donegal.
