£30 million guaranteed for the league winners next season

Vlad was one game away from the jackpot when we lost to AEK Athens.

Next season the winners of the league get automatic qualification into the new format champion league.

10+ games equating to over £30,000,000 JUST in TV money.

When adding ticket sales, merchandise along with exposure to new markets abroad who follow the tournament, it is not unrealistic to project 100 million being generated over two seasons.

Is it pure fantasy for a club like us to be even dreaming of achieving this sort of thing?

On the brink before.........

Well Neilson really needs to get his finger out now. Imagine if Hibs won it though? Pretty fertile imagination needed of course  :)

We just gave Ross Stewart a two year contract so you can't say we're lacking in ambition.......👍

It will add to the "Scottish Disease" that has spread to Spain and elsewhere.

Big thing regarding Super League but we're a bad hair away from it except they're sadly still with us.

If you get guaranteed group stages then teams are likely to speculate to accumulate and spend outwith their means to achieve success. That's what most clubs do, spend the money they probably don't have just to get Champions League football/income. If we show ambition, without being wreckless, we could attract pretty good players back to Scotland if we are now a league that guarantees Champions League football.

Yup. Speculate to accumulate (without being reckless)

Let's get Jimmy Dunne in. A back line of Gordon, Smith, Souttar, Dunne, Kingsley/Halliday (who's better at LB than MF) is a start.

Offer Motherwell cash plus Roberts for O'Donnell to fight with Smith and sign Ginelly for pace. With a fit Haring sitting in front of the defence, a mobile McEneff along with one or two others and there's the spine of a decent team in there. Campbell and Cole also from Motherwell, McGrath at St Mirren is another with sell-on potential in future.  It may not (well, it won't) win us the League but it should be good enough to get us a Euro qualification spot which is a step in the right direction for the future. Then we revise the squad again and lose/sign a few to take us up another level again.

All used to be a realistic target yet seems fanciful now but, it could be done with some proper ambition.

After all the deserved fuss about the Super League, we still have a situation where clubs can be given wealth which will further marginalise their domestic opponents.

For a country like Scotland, this is extremely bad for decent domestic competition. Every club, outside Celtic and Rangers, will just have their chances of ever winning the Premiership further diminished to the point of why bother. A substantial proportion of that money should be shared with the other clubs in the respective leagues, to raise competition and standards.

I wonder how much money both arse cheeks will now throw at winning the league next year.

I think so. Not because of whatevers going on with us just now, but if anyone else was top by January

1. The manager would be lured down south immediately (eg Alex Neil at Hamilton, top 4 in January and still went to Norwich)

2. The best players would be taken easily, possibly by the OF themselves (too many to name for all teams)

3. The OF would just outspend you to buy a better squad

4. FFP means you can't just up your wages or transfer fees as easily

We can hope, but without a millionaire/billionaire backer for 10 years I doubt anyone would get there right now. Maybe if we did league format reconstruction like only playing each other twice, things could change.

Good to see that we’ve already got the ball rolling in our ambition to win the league by signing...(checks notes)...Ross Stewart.

I don't want either newco or Celtic getting that money but it will mean both will try and spend big to secure it. That said I can see newco making the CL in the summer if they make it to the play off round and get a side like AEK or Ferencvaros. These sides should study St Johnstone's high press as should every Scottish side next season vs them.

It’s an interesting point but we are best building blocks (the right blocks) and to get in that position - if we can start using our resources wisely then there is no reason as to why we can’t compete

Have the best youth facilities in the land - attract the best young players with a mixture of youth and experience and bobs your uncle - get saleable assets playing in the team and ones that can be replaced for a fraction of the sale values

It’s what we were told 7 years ago by Ann and in my view, is absolutely still the right model. It’s just that it hasn’t been delivered yet.

We can’t compete with signing over 24,s and/or journeymen and then going on to win the league or compete directly with the arse cheeks - that ain’t sustainable

Big Moysey

Aberdeen won the league in 1985. We obviously went close the following year but at end of 85/86 season Rangers started throwing money at it. Celtic then woke up and joined in. Despite Rangers being awol for 5 years there have still only been 2 teams that have won our league since 85. 36 years!

We already compete in a virtually unwinnable league so those of you dreaming of a mega millionaire buying us, need to get real. It ain't happening, our best chance of winning anything are the Scottish and League cups (unless of course we are in a lower league again) The SFA and SPFL actively encourage/assist 'Old firm' dominance that further decreases a 'Leicester' anomaly. They will just increase their financial dominance with this extra Euro dosh.

We have to aim for and plan for being best of the rest. Sadly, very little evidence of that in last 4 years, however, we are still Heart of Midlothian F. C. and no one else can beat that.

I’m guessing everyone, including us will go there. Park the bus and have no plan B when they, inevitably concede.

It hasn’t worked before but...

I believe Robbie Neilson and this fantastic group of Hearts players can and will do it. 100% confident the title is coming home to Tynecastle Park next season and group stage champions league football. Use the £30mil to remove the pylons, fill the corners, and widen the pitch in time for the knockout stages. Job done.

Under Budge we are an Irn Bru Challenge cup kinda club.

Yip, apart from us being in 2 sc finals recently and never been the Irn bru Cup since her first season when she inherited us in the championship.

Apart from that you are spot on.
