Projecting YouGov 2 – 4 May into seats (changes vs 16 – 20 Apr / vs 2016):

SNP ~ 70 (+2 / +7)
Conservative ~ 25 (-2 / -6)
Labour ~ 18 (-1 / -6)
Green ~ 12 (+1 / +6)
Lib Dem ~ 4 (nc / -1)

That’s quite decent for the Greens if it pans out - I don’t agree with all of their policies but keeping the govt more focused on renewables and climate change is always a good thing.

Seems that Alba are going after the 2 votes SNP and not going to erode the Green list votes.  If that pans out, its a clever strategy.

Agreed.

What a difference it was from the angry, shouty embarrassing (usually presenter driven) I think I'll switch this over, waste of time.

Hopefully, post election they can get some stuff done together. Independence apart obviously. But I think there's a chance they'll fight drugs together.

I live in hope.

And I hope work is going well, Bud. 👍

I have to say. Scottish Labour have picked a good one. I like Anas Sarwar and I would give him my 2nd vote, if only dropped his anti independence stance.

Anyway.

Child poverty, drugs and separate schools are my top 3 urgently required attention. I want the SNP to drive from Scottish life and know listening to last night, if they can stop, talk and listen the parties could tackle this.

Independence, for or against should not cause a problem. People have different opinions but let's fix what we can, when we can.

I like this national social care thingy too, profiteering from old folk is a bit shite.

Glen Campbell was a poor choice and an irritant. Often it's the politicians getting accused of interrupting and not allowing others to finish getting their point across but he was a constant frustration.

I agree.

It was far more watchable than any of the others although ironically it was Campbell's constant interrupting that reduced what could have been, not perfect, but as close as you could get.

Ask yourself (Everyone) why is a 5.5m population spending £65b on rUK when they only spend £49b on us.

£65b 5.5m/£12000 per head.

£49b 62m/£800 per head.

SIXTYFIVEFECKINGBILLIONS!!!

Scotland yer getting fecking robbed. Paying double, double selling, Scots tax counting as rUK tax. No oil and gas or financial services included in Scots exports, but included in imports.

£5b surplus between Scotland /Row but, somehow we rake up a £16b deficit with our so called Pals.

Yes, there's plenty of stuff we can't provide for ourselves or rUK don't need. But £65b in exports, this wee country, SIXTYFIVEBILLION.

Anyway, why do people like this post, never seem to have the comparison.  And ask yourself why it's so hard to find this information, yet this chart and others is so easy.

Oh and if Scotland really does spend such amounts on rUK, why would they NOT continue this trading?  18% second only to the USA who I may add, are 70 times bigger than Scotland.

Union dividend of £1,941 for every person in Scotland

Scottish Secretary responds to the 2019-20 Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland figures.

Lots of multicoloured men and women stick figures made with paper for crowd concept

Commenting on the Scottish Government GERS figures, Scottish Secretary Alister Jack said:

The Scottish Government’s own figures show clearly how much Scotland benefits from being part of a strong United Kingdom, with the pooling and sharing of resources that brings. People in Scotland, year after year, benefit from levels of public spending substantially above the United Kingdom average, with a Union dividend of £1,941 per person in Scotland.

That has never been more important than it is right now. In the face of a global pandemic, the strength and experience of the UK Treasury is helping people in Scotland and across the rest of the United Kingdom.

The UK Government is currently supporting more than 930,000 jobs in Scotland – a third of the workforce. This is just one part of a huge package of measures to get our economy back on track, on top of an extra £6.5 billion for the Scottish Government to fund public services in Scotland. We will continue to back all parts of the UK as we recover from the economic impact of coronavirus.

Background

  • The figures from the Scottish Government show Scotland’s notional deficit rose from £13.1 billion in 2018-19 to £15.1 billion in 2019-20. This is more than Scotland’s entire health budget for the year, which was £13.8 billion in 2019-20.

  • The ‘Union dividend’ per person in Scotland (the combined value of higher spending and lower revenue) was £1,941 in 2019-20. This was an increase from £1,805 in 2018-19

  • Public expenditure per person in Scotland in 2019-20 was £1,633 higher than the UK average.

  • Revenue per person in Scotland remained below the UK average. In 2019-20, including an illustrative geographical share of North Sea revenue, revenue per person was £308 lower than the UK average. This was a substantial change from 2018-19 when revenue per head was £171 lower than the UK average.

  • Total expenditure for the benefit of Scotland increased from £78,598 million in 2018-19, to £81,015 million in 2019-20.

  • As a percentage of Scotland’s GDP the notional deficit increased from -7.4% in 2018-19 to -8.6% in 2019-20. For comparison the UK’s deficit rose from -1.9% of GDP to -2.5% over the same period. New members of the EU are required to have a deficit less than 3% of GDP. The OECD reports that in 2019 the other EU countries with the highest deficits were France (-3%), Spain (-2.8%) and Hungary (-2%).

  • Non-North Sea revenue in Scotland grew by 1.7% in 2019-20, while Non-North Sea revenue growth in the UK as a whole was 1.9%.

  • Income tax receipts in Scotland grew 1.5% from 2018-19 to 2019-20, the same as across the UK.

  • Including a geographic share of North Sea revenue Scotland’s total revenue in 2019-20 was £65,878 million, up slightly from £65,442 million in 2018-19. For 2019-20 this represented 8% of all UK revenues, slightly down from 8.1% in 2018-19.

  • This change reflects the fact that Scottish North Sea revenue fell by £642 million in 2019-20, due in part to the fall in oil prices toward the end of the year.

I have to laugh at politicians nowadays. Some Green politician was asked why people should vote for them, his response so you can keep out who you don’t want.

Nothing about policies, aspirations of what they would like to do to improve society. Just vote to keep out who you don’t want

It is undoubtably a trend that’s done with many parties. SNP and Lab have pushed vote for us to keep Tories out, the tories have pushed vote for us to avoid indepedence and to a lesser extent Corbyn

We really are following the US approach, where the emphasis is on your opponents negatives over your own positives

The whole country seems to be either SNP or Keep the SNP out, I know what the literature through my door's saying.

Not true.  The other parties want to focus on recovering from Covid instead of fighting divisive independence referendum campaigns during a deep recession.

It really is though , I got a flyer yesterday from Ruth Davidson , nothing about policies and simply about stopping SNP. Then in a squeezed in the bottom left hand corner , in tiny letters.

PS : your local MSP is Alexander Burnett

That is how it was written!

My main position is I wont vote Tory due to my opinion of how they have shafted people around here and on principal of Independence. However I have a lot of time for Alexander and he works hard for his constituents. Had they focussed on him and what he has done for the constituency and his constituents myself and neighbours included then I may well have given him the vote such as he has worked his arse off for us. By focussing on boo SNP it just made me go nahhh I’ll not out my vote there. Every flyer and bit of propaganda from them this election had been stop the SNP not once focussing on needs of people.

Are they allowed to campaign on polling day, I always thought there were rules against doing so, might be wrong.

Lovely to see Sturgeon put that Jayda thing in her place today.  She should have just volleyed the racist boot, imo.

Felt proud to be part of her constituency today seeing that video and obviously, both votes SNP, like most people in the southside of Glasgow.

Conceded defeat to the Tories in the Hartlepool by-election. What a shambles of a party.

Completely agree. Even if Starmer resigns, I don't see where Labour go from here? The Blairites won and took the party to the right thinking that's how to get elected. The electorate decides if it's a choice between Tory and Tory-lite, you might as well vote Tory. As you say, shambles of a party now.

David Milliband needs his arse kicked into the leader job. But saying that, it's a bit early to judge Keir Starmer.

The Tories will no doubt Hibsit, as they always do when they get a bit complacent.

Working class tory voters(especially born in Scotland) should see a mirror.
