Hopefully these playoffs go ahead.  Brechin are turning into the new East Stirlingshire.  A skidmark that just won't flush.

SPFL mafia doing all they can to stop their Brechin friends from facing the music. They've even got Brechin chairman to step down from his role for a few months so no one raises suspicions when they announce the playoffs won't go ahead, a year on its scary that we are still governed by the corrupt mafia.

Thought that was too subtle for anyone to notice

Ken Ferguson received a number of death threats in the last few weeks and resigned for his own safety.

Elgin dropped out of the play off place tonight after Stranraer put 4 past Stenny. They've lost their last couple of games so hopefully dropping off the pace now.

Prem/Champ: Ross County and Hamilton down, Hearts and ICT up.

Champ/L1: Morton and Alloa down, Falkirk and Partick up.

L1/L2: ? down, Queens Park and Stranraer or Edinburgh City up.

L2/Non-league: Brechin down, Kelty up.

Think that would be an almost clean sweep if good guys up, bad guys down. Not sure who our enemies are at the foot of League 1. Also not convinced Queens Park were good guys, but they are clearly going up.

Well if their from Brechin fans, it shouldn't take too long to track them down.

Clubs like Brechin are simply shit scared of what’s beneath them. Both East Stirling and Berwick have gone down in recent years and have no chance of getting back up anytime soon. Brechin know the same thing will happen to them so are doing everything to cling on to their SPFL status. There are several teams in the Highland/Lowland league more than ready to take their place and they know it.

I think Brechin asked last season last season If relegated could they play in the Lowland league rather than the Highland.

This was rejected and they are desperate to stay in league 2.

Forfar down from L1 would also be satisfying, especially for Patrick and Falkirk, after their Chairman said he voted against reconstruction to get their fans to visit Forfar

Can only assume they get their players from central belt, hence the preference for Lowland league. Imo they have more chance in the Highland.

Don't know why, but I've always had a liking for the Angus teams, I don't want to lose them, but it's their own destiny, they are good enough on the pitch.

i dont think they asked but threatened to have some form of cup place removed from the highland and lowland leagues if they were not put into the lowland league if they got relegated

Yup, plus the West of Scotland leagues were newly forming in the West as a feeder into the Lowland League and needed SFA sanction to come into exstence so Brechin could use their oversized vote to be awkward here too iirc
Always seemed daft to me that Brechin were clearly failing badly with a strategy that relied on Central belt players but were determined to see that through to their own demise.

Not in that financial year. Those are accounts ending 31 May 2020. But they only missed 4 home games in that period.

Karma !  I've not been this happy about a club's relegation since a certain play off final at fester in 2014.

Alloa, Brechin, Ayr, Hamilton all going down as looks likely/possible and us, Thistle, Falkirk, Stranraer, and Caley (or anyone but Raith or Dundee) - also very possible - going up would be perfect payback for last year.

Once Brora get promoted, shouldn't Brechin get a decent shout at getting back into the league play off each year.

Do they really want to fight it out with the LL and all the junior clubs heading into it in time?

I assume you mean if they go into the Highland League? There are a few club chairmen up there just biding their time. Cove bought the league for ages so they accepted that they’d struggle as thats bankrolled by the Balmoral Group. Once they were gone Brora had stepped up doing the same. Once they are gone it should be a fairly balanced league but there  is no way the Brechin finances will compete with some Highland League teams. Raccortubi are looking to push investment in Keith due to their links to them for instance

And it gets worse when they get into the Lowland League.

Hard to come back when you are in downward spiral.

I can remember the original "Only an Excuse" when it was broadcast on the radio in 1987.

There was a reference in the show about Brechin City being 80 years old in season 1986/87 that is equally applicable today.

The quote was "Brechin City 1906-1986 also known as the wilderness years"

Just update it to "Brechin City 1906-2021 also known as the wilderness years"

I think Brechin’s main claim to fame is that David Will was their chairman for two decades and something of a giant in the world of football administration at both the SFA and at FIFA. One of the first to call out Sepp Blatter for his financial shenanigans but sadly did not live to see Blatter’s downfall. Mike Mulraney on the other hand .....

So they aren't arguing that they deserve to face off a playoff, but that the teams from below haven't earned it. And their solution is for Brechin to stay up! Total joke, their chairman is a complete chancer.

They haven't earned a play off but have earned a direct place in the league.
