What a day - wasn't even there as I was working.

Watched the first half on TV then had get on with work. Heard it went 1-0 Hearts just as I started my shift.

I was told it was 1-1 with 80 odd minutes then heard there was a last minute penalty to win and just assumed it was for Celtic.

Just like in 2006 the hard work was done in the semi final and just like in 2006, it’s the game I preferred.
I know some people will think you’re crazy, surely beating hibs 5-1 was better?
Not for me. Those celebrations when Beattie scored the penalty were wild. One of my favourite days as a hearts supporter.
So glad I made the trip through.

Unbridled celebrations, when beatts stuck that penalty away, a fair few ghosts from the past, layed to rest that day🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻

Easily in the top three Hearts games I've ever been at. Celtics late equaliser...the feeling of inevitability of them then going onto win it...only for us to go on a win it with a late penalty. Then the Webster penalty shout (never a pen btw).

Some of the most mental celebrations I've been involved in. Could see me in the Daily Record the next day making a beeline down the stairs celebrating Beattie's pen.

Remember walking out with my son and we were chuckling at some wee Hearts urchins singing “where’s yer treble gone” ?to the tune of middle of the roads old hit at some rough looking Celtic fans walking by, the look on the mhanks faces was priceless 😂😂

Yep.

When that equaliser went in I'd imagine even the most optimistic of jambos thought it was curtains.

The elation when Beattie scored the pen and the final whistle went soon after was unreal.

Got a text from a Hibbie mate saying their goal was offside.

Didn't see his text until we were back home in the pub in Edinburgh

Sent a reply saying not to worry we would probably get a last minute penalty to win the game

Great game great day great celebration, and Lennon running onto the pitch to confront the referee after the game was fun to see

I'm with you. I felt so relaxed on final day, so as great as it was pumping those tramps, it didn't quite match the euphoria of that last minute winner against Celtic.

I was so pessimistic about that day despite going through. When they equalised I thought it was over. The disbelief when we got a last minute penalty, and scored, was huge.

Lennon just had to make it all about him at the end.

Our penalty hit two hands, their "penalty" hit none and Hooper was in an offside position, clear as day, throughout the Celtic move and remained so when the cross was delivered. That linesman was a disgrace.

Yet it was they who were diddled?

One of the best days in 45 years of watching Hearts. The feeling of dread going through- thinking we were in for another hammering. The fact it was the die hard who went to the game. Thinking that was it when their equaliser went in then The Beattie- Orgasmic 😁

Had a marvellous time at EDI airport after the game sharing pleasantries with dozens of returning home Celtic supporters.

The armed guards made it surgery sweet 😀

I ended up in the casino at Fountainpark that night with a group of players. Beattie ran around the casino waving his shirt above his head after a win on the roulette 🤣

Look at that, a team running about, trying their arses off, fighting for each other.. with a tiny little sprinkling of ability.

That result is up there with the best results I've seen Hearts achieve over the 60 years of following our team. That was a very good Celtic team, and when they equalised so late on the memories of 1988 came flooding back.

For us to then hit them with a last minute winner was payback for all the guys who were at both games.

The celebration of Craig Beattie will be talked about for decades to come.

Best memory from that day was when we all turned our back on their hoarded and huddled and started jumping up and down doing the bouncy - a few folk started it and the next thing was that everyone was doing it

the mutants were fecking seething and it was delightful seeing them froth 😀

And did injury time not go on forever? Ref so wanted them to score - 😂😂

Remember that - howling for the full time whistle and it just wouldn’t come. They kept launching a few balls in the box right on top of our keeper.
Had a few free kicks as well - Nae fecking finger nails left by the end of the game 🙏 all the sweeter when the whistle finally went

When they equalised I just sank into my seat thinking it was 1988 all over again .
Knowing who we were playing in the final and what was at stake tempered my celebrations as I kept wondering “ what if?”
Looking back now , what a ****ing day it was 🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻

What a day! One of my favourite ever games. Maybe only the 98 cup win beating it.

Sergio got the tactics spot on. Kept it tight first half then came out more in the second. Then the rollercoaster of emotions and Beatties celebration at the end!! Amazing.

Was a fantastic day, with the last few minutes probably my favourite few minutes ever. The atmosphere was amazing considering we didn't have many there but that made it all the sweeter seeing 3/4 of the ground sneaking out at the end. And Lennon after the final whistle😁😁

One of the abiding memories I have of that day, is leaving after the game and in amongst the Hearts fans, were a group dressed as stormtroopers. That and Beattie's celebration have always stuck with me.

Well, that and sitting in a coffee shop waiting for the crowds to disperse en route back to central Glasgow and seeing Celtic fans pass with their faces tripping them.

Good times.

I was working in Brisbane so kick off was late night. I managed to find a pub with loads of tellies but when I asked the barman if I could get the Scottish football on he instantly asked who I supported. When I said Hearts he was ok with it but they didn’t show games involving the old firm because of trouble in the past. So he set me up at a quiet bit of the bar with my own personal telly. Then the bar closed at half time! Cue running around trying to find somewhere open to see the rest. I ended up in a nightclub attached to a youth hostel where the upstairs bar was quiet watching with an Irish barman who luckily knew nothing about football. The one place I could have watched the match all the way through without interruption was the Brisbane Irish club! Feck that for a laugh.
Then walking back to my hotel Brisbane was littered with random drunk Celtic supporters in full kit waving clubs and singing their happy songs and trying to pick fights with strangers.

Agree with the poster that said this was better than the final. I had no idea Beattie ran round beside the fans until the day after.

What a day.

When Hooper scored that offside header I sat down on the stairwell and had my head in my hands. Some unknown bloke pulled me to my feet and said “it’ll be fine, we’ll still win this”, and then disappeared. No idea who it was, have often wondered if I imagined it due to the bevvy 😂

A great game and a wonderful day. My memory of it is after Rudi scored we more or less battered them and could have scored more. Although Celtic were the better team first half.

A rollercoaster of emotions.

It's got to be the best Hearts goal celebration ever, ahead of a few fence jobs at Easter Road.

Took the don't celebrate scoring against your old team thing to a whole new level

They were sitting just behind us so we got a photo. Who were they I wonder? 😜

My first thought at the end was how I am going to  survive until the final.

I am ok when I get inside the ground against Hibs but the long period between the games is a hard slog for me.

Why did I worry🤗

Skacel's goal was like in slow motion for me, just knew he was going to score after taking it round the keeper. The celebrations after Beattie's winner, then the tense last few mins watching from a shite Hampden view Celtic with the ball away in the distance in the Hearts box. What a day.

I was a nervous wreck before the match and up until the fourth went in. Imagine how it must feel to lose a cup final to your biggest rivals. 😎♥️

The scars on my shins will never disappear from taking a tumble over the seats in the chaos when that went in that evening. Yet another top visit to the shitehole.

The build up between the games was intense and seemed to last forever.

Strange though on the day of the game my nerves disappeared.

There was only going to be one winner that day. 😉
