Have always found this site really useful for general  hints and tips over the years aside from all the football chat.

Just wondering if anyone has painted tiles around their fireplace before?

I’m just unsure if need specific heat resistant type paint or if just standard tile paint is sufficient?

Have tried Googling but seems to be mixed advice as to type of paint needed.

Some old fireside tiles can be worth a nice few quid. Are you sure its crappy modern ones you're painting?

It seems to be older tiles. The colour of them just don’t fit in with the colour of walls and carpets etc so was really looking to paint the fireplace tiles so they blend in more.

I don't know if I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs here, but it would be worth removing some grout before painting and then re-grouting. More time consuming, but you'll get a far better result.
