Could this be very good news for Hearts?

It's good news for anyone that gets a profit ☺.    Or anyone that receives a donation.   🤑  Hmm, messi out of contract soon. 🤣

It would be good news if Musk and Anderson took us over.

Anderson might be a long term candidate for Chairman when Ann decides it's time to step down.

Suggesting Anderson takes over Hearts make next to no sense given the Foundation is well established to support/grow the club naturally.

Hearts don't need people just chucking money in without a plan - we're better with a full strategy and attracting income through sponsorship. Boom and bust has to be in the past for us.

Anderson may be able to help us realise that through a financial strategy to grow the club.

I would like to know if James Anderson has ever been invited onto the board for his financial expertise. Maybe he is not interested, but it would be interesting to find out.

If he was on the board he would be limited in how much he can put into the club as it would fall under FFP, but fan donations are exempt from those rules

Anderson is on record as owning just over 1% of the shares in the flagship fund he manages (Scottish Mortgage). The current market valuation of Scottish Mortgage is just over £17 billion so you can do the maths. 2020 was a pretty good year on that front as the shares doubled in value. Of course what goes up can come down but in many ways it was a culmination of 20 years work managing that particular fund rather than being in the right place at the right time by luck.

What it could mean for HMFC who knows but even if he never gave another penny what a guy.

Haven't those rats in Lochend just announced someone from Baillie Gifford on their board too? Hopefully they don't want to split their loyalties.

Forget the headlines here.  The fund DOES NOT own $29 Billion of Tesla Stock.  Under Investment Trust rules it's limited to a maximum exposure of 5% of its value in any one company.  The trust is worth about £12 Billion so the max will be £600 million.  This headline figure is the total amount of return the shares have seen since the trust began investing in it.

Anderson admitted in a trade press interview last year that he had ha to start selling down the position, even though he didn't really want to.  Still made a bloody fortune though!!

Indeed. A quick look at the Budge is to blame thread illustrates this perfectly.

Would it really though?    I don't know about Mr Anderson, but I am pretty sure Mr Musk knows fek all about Scottish football and the way things are, if we lost several games in a row or authorised the signing of a player who turned out to be a diddy, he would simply be a candidate for  . . .  Musk oot!

We have wasted countless hundreds of thousands going into millions under this regime on fat long contracts to no-mark players, we need to live within our means a bit more. Be wasted under our regime.

Excuse my ignorance here but has it actually been made public that Anderson is a Hearts fan? I know he is said to be one of the main benefactors, but his contributions to the club could more be through philanthropy than support for the club, potentially through a business relationship with Budge. If reports of his wealth are to be believed, what he has contributed to the club is a fractional of his overall wealth.

I know Baillie Gifford have a reputation for investing in start up IT businesses, and it rings a bell Budge made her money through IT. As a wealthy individual it could also be the case Budge invests in Baillie Giffords funds and their relationship is potentially through one of those two.

Either way, amazing to have him involved.
