Not good enough for fly half, punted to centre, proceed to be probably the worst starting centre in the tournament.
Yet this unnamed person will be on the plane to SA.

Jim Renwick is still a better centre than Farrell.

I was listening to Peter Wright and Colin Gregor this afternoon and both of them reckon Stuart Hogg is the only certainty to be in the Lion's squad.

So many players of similar ability that a coach tends to go with the guys that he has worked with and is familiar with.

Will be a tough call and hope some others make it.

Does anyone know when the 2022 fixtures are likely to be announced?

it’s normally the week after the end of the current seasons campaign...but as with everything else, this isn’t normal times.

Wondering if anyone might have some inside information to help for a trip to rome next year!

Finn Russell has been handed a 3 game ban on the back of his red card. Seems harsh.

I assume that means he'll miss the Heineken Cup quarter-final for Racing against Edinburgh this weekend then? Not that it will significantly affect Racing, who even without him will have way too much for Edinburgh.

They started doing them for a few years in advance I.e 2020, 2021 at same time. I think thing will hold of another month or two to see how covid vaccine roll out plays out before locking in dates tbh, hopefully wrong as it would be nice to start planning something that's not a trip to the supermarket!

Coaches announced for the Lions tour.

Gregor Townsend is attack coach.

Steve Tandy and Robin McBryde from Scotland also involved.

Not sure we want to be giving too many secrets away.

Of course other nations study what we do so doesn't really matter.

You would think so.

Last time there were no Scots on the selection panel.

Think now Gregor Townsend has been chosen as attacking coach by Gatland there is a better chance of Finn Russell and a couple of other Scottish players joining Stuart Hogg in the squad.

Think there will be quite a few, there should be.

Hogg defo. Russell, Watson defo, Ritchie, J. Gray, Sutherland defo. VDM defo.

Z. Fagersson, Sam Johnson and Sean Maitland with an outside chance imo.

That'll be the Scottish quota for the tour, then :D

Asking Townshend to guide the attack is an eyebrow-raiser. He and Gatland come at the game with such different philosophies I can only imagine that other coaches (such as Farrell) turned Gatland down and he couldn't go much lower profile. It could be quite fiery, especially if Gregor is going to have much say in the selection.

Looks like Gatland is going to prove me wrong, going by his latest comments.

Lions v Japan at Murrayfield. Do you think they'll let spectators in?

Yeah. Similar amount to that allowed at Hampden I'd think.

I'd love to go to that.

I’m not sure Japan will want to travel half the way round the world for it. Dependant on COVID status in the UK by then of course.

Captain Sausage

Not much hair in the coaching team. Dazzle the Saffers.

As said above, with Tandy in it should help Hamish Watson and potentially Sutherland get in.

Toonie will likely help with Russell and VDM joining Hogg on tour. 5 is the number I’d expect we will take.
