For Hackman fans there’s also The Quick And The Dead. Spaghetti style western where he plays a right shit. Good cast all round actually.

One of Di Caprio's first films, and Sharon Stone is half decent in it😉

The long good Friday. Bob Hoskins as an East End villain who has upset the IRA. Helen Mirren plays his wife/ molly.

Two very familiar faces from TV and film right at the very end.

The final shot of a closeup on Bob's face is a masterclass in acting without saying a word.
Director told him to just think his way through the script and his face shows every emotion his character had gone through.

Just watched War Games with a very young Mathew Broderick and Aly Sheedy.

Way ahead of its time back then internet hadn’t even happened.

Probably wasn’t under rated then but now with the themes it discusses and hindsight. Very much so.

Watched Eden Lake a few months ago and 71 on Tuesday. Was surprised at how brutal Eden Lake was. 71 is decent.

Apologies if it has been mentioned previously but I really enjoy In Bruges.

Brilliant film. I first saw it on a flight. It's not often I laugh out loud at a film, less so when I'm on my own, but the scene where he was speaking to the American tourists had me doing so.

Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie.

A classic and don't think ever underrated.

Released in '73 as the main feature in a double bill. The Wicker Man was the B-movie !

He was a fine actor. He was great in "Mona Lisa" too.

For fans of film noir - fairly recent, rather than the classics of the 40s & 50s - and, indeed, Nicholas Cage, I give you:

image.jpeg.edace2515a382e9e90a8e5081fb72110.jpeg

Also directed by John Dahl and also great is:

The Last Seduction - Wikipedia

And finally, not directed by John Dahl (Sam Raimi this time), but still brilliant is:

A Simple Plan (1998) | Plan movie, A simple plan, Movies

OK, one more then - not a film noir but a very powerful and well-made Italian thriller, set in Sicily:

La scorta (1993) - IMDb

Only one I’ve seen out of that lot is A Simple Plan. It was quite a while ago and can’t remember a lot about it, but I do remember it being a good watch.

The Man who wasn’t there.

Its not considered one of the Coen brother’s best but I think it’s brilliant.

The Road to Perdition is also a quality film

Rip Torn as Patches O'Houlihan 👍  Not entirely an appealing bunch of characters but this guy is tops.

I think he's a great wee actor as well.   Done some funny roles, espeacily Airplane II.   I particularly thought he was great in Freddie Got Fingered starring Tom Green Co starring Rip Torn as the father.   I was going to recommend it but it won eight awards 😲 good film ☺ 👍
