I see that the usual red tops are suggesting significant snowfall later in the month with quotes from an expert suggesting it “could” snow later this month, temperatures “may” plummet and there is a “chance” of snow in December.

Absolutely shocked and surprised at this possibility.

My goodness get them signed up to take over from Mystic Meg.

Who'd have thought it, cold temperatures and maybe snow in Scotland in December, wow amazed at that.

STV weather was interesting on Wednesday. For cop26 they highlighted the drop in snowfall in Scotland over past decade.

Example used was Braemar, would previously have 70 days per year of lying snow.  Now down to 35 days.

They rehash the same story every November.

They predicted 2 weeks ago that there was a 'chance' of snow by mid November.

It's been mild as feck, I've even been working outside in a t-shirt

The Scottish snow sports industry is dying on it's arse.

It’ll be a ‘white Christmas’ somewhere in the UK if just one snowflake falls.

That, in turn, will mean that Britain has had a ‘white Christmas’.

What a load of shite.  🤷🏿‍♂️

Weather wise in Scotland take it day by day.

👍 Indeed.

That’s the way it’s always been.

There has been one from the Daily Rangers on the Edinburgh Live site.

Weird  I'd have said over the last decade or so we have had more Snow in Edinburgh than the previous 20 combined.

More to do with the amount of days that is lying than the actual amount of snow fallen.

Using Braemar in the Cairgorms gives a better picture of the reduction.

Usual folk at my work bleating on about the news that there will be heavy snow at Christmas.

The first time I gave them a short summary of the accuracy of weather forecasting was also the last.

Thinking you can accurately predict the weather 6 weeks away?

What temperature differences do you get.

Also on STV was a woman from Quebec area. She was talking of 50° in summer to -50° in winter.

Couldn't hack that.

Pretty big variances here in Michigan but not quite Quebec levels. Definitely have 4 seasons. Lovely summers, cold winters - temperatures that can sometimes go below zero Fahrenheit, never mind Celsius. Also, because we live about 40 miles East of Lake Michigan, we get lake effect snow (basically a bunch of extra snow that gets dumped on us that wouldn’t get if we lived a further 20 miles East). Can’t complain though.

Here’s average temps in Fahrenheit (32 F = Zero Celsius, 85 F = 29.4 Celsius).

When you read through the article all they seem to be saying is there's nothing unusual for the time of year.  Full of maybes and could be's - snow on higher elevations. Quelle surprise!

Wind is picking up here and the clouds are thickening, starting to get quite dull here.

Amber warning for wind & yellow warning for snow here in the central Borders.

First RED warning issued for three years for East coast.

Could be a tad windy later !

Been reading the descriptors for the red wind warning. One of the particularly encouraging ones is “roofs blown off”.

I don't think it's to last long, a few hours going by the local forecast.

You do get it far worse down there in the borders.
