Although Wighton has done well, if wee lost him and replaced him with any of the top 5/6 on that list we'd have an instant upgrade I reckon.

Although Cummings is debatable and Stewart isn't a striker.

wouldn't touch him with a barge pole

Wighton has found his level in the championship. We could easily sell him to a club looking to promote next season and he'd do well.

If we're going to break the bank anywhere it should be on a striker.

Agreed.

Souttar and Smith would struggle as a pairing.

Dunne and Smith as cb combo or similar would be ideal.

Halkett as back up, if saying soapy won't ever stay fit. 😭

Back 3 from

Fit Soapy

Halkett

Smith

Dunne

Popescu as further back up as he's under contract.

We can dream.

Thank god SRB! - it's been a couple of days since I've seen Jimmy Dunne's name mentioned on here.  Why oh why is the daft sod not ditching £8k a week basic in the EPL to come and play for Hearts..... I dunno..........

Options are always good things, very rarely now do you get the same team playing 2 weeks in a row. Kingsley is not bad inside either, think I prefer Halliday as a left back too, another option.

Suppose you could go something like this

Gordon

Smith Souttar Kingsley

Irving Haring Lee

Ginnelly Naismith Mackay-Steven

          Boyce

I agree with Cruyff, need a heed the baw type in there for Scottish football.

None of them command the box.

Options are good but generally centre halves pick themselves and stick unless there is an injury or a complete loss of form.

I have a funny feeling our midfield is going to be gutted for next season to get a better all round balance.

Lee, Irving haven't signed an extension yet. I'm not sure Robbie is 100% on walker or Haring either. His team selection indicates he's only really set on Halliday.

He still seems to be toiling for balance in Midfield, I think that will reflect business in the summer.

On the other hand I could be spouting absolute drivel.

Exactly... what the hell is he thinking!!

If Dunne was to come back (big if, I know), I think we would be nearly there with a decent squad. I think a CB is more important than a striker at the moment.

Three left wingers now...I think Robbie would prefer to get rid of Roberts but Frear might be easier only having six months left.

Hence the "dream" part.

Also why I said "type" at the end.

I don't think Dunne wil come back permanently any time soon, if ever , a loan could happen tho. Not out of the question.

Also, on the £8k a week, Naismith was on 5x that, Gordon 3x that ish. Lafferty on much more.

Also we freed up Sean clares £10k a week, so on promotion surely we can afford £8k....😂😂

When Roberts signed, neilson said that Roberts could ALSO play as a central striker - so no need for us to sign another striker.

My beef the last time around with RN, was that he changed the midfield EVERY week. We're not going to get consistency chopping and changing the engine room week in, week out (injuries aside.)

I don't buy into the 'squad rotation' tactic/mythos, it's a made up term that big clubs down south invented because they have too many big names on their books, while trying to keep them happy.

lol. I know you couched it in a pipe dream scenario. just funny how his name crops up. just can't see it myself.

naismith, gordon & lafferty - older and different circumstances. Jimmy Dunne will be striving to break into an EPL team permanently....whilst being treated like a king travelling to EPL away venues. if it doesn't work out, he'll likely bag himself  a championship team on similar wages.

do you mean Sean Clare was on £10k a week? I though that idea had been pooh poohed?

did he?

I thought Gomis and Bauben were our engine room that season. unless you mean wide midfielders? (don't most teams change those type of players though?)

I'm maybe thinking more about Premiership RN... can definitely remember getting frustrated at the changes every week. Mind you, I'm more old school, play the same team every week if possible - that's how you get consistency.

Getintaethem

Hearts always wait until the registration paperwork for the transfer has been processed and confirmed by the authorities before announcing signings, so not worried about the delay.

I'm not up to date with the MLS covid situation, is GMS coming on the back of a full season or has he not played in months?

Surprised that Chris Hamilton has gone down a level for a loan, thought he was doing fine at Dumbarton.

They’re not doing fine, they’re 8th. Won’t be easy switching the boy to CM this late in his development.

They lost 4-0 to Tigres on December 16th. That was their last game. GMS started left wing and played the whole match.

Looks like a certain Ronnie Deila is their manager.

Not sure about the GMS signing. Obviously a really talented player but towards the latter stage of his career and injury prone. Never been the quickest either. Fingers crossed it comes off as a 2.5 year deal could be a disaster.

Bit of revision and disrespectful.

Out of interest how many of the appearances are as a starter and a sub?

Great player when available,  haven't noticed any posts argue against quality

On paper he is would be an excellent signing and I applaud the club for having the ambition to get him - I just hope he stays fit.

Has he actually signed yet?

Looks like the policy of siging half-fit has-beens remains.

Hopefully the lad does well though.

I really hope he shoves those words right back down my throat. 😄

We've been making exactly this type of signing ever increasingly since Cathro came in and I guess I'm feeling a little jaded with it all.
