Boyce plays like he has nothing to prove, Wighton plays like he’s got everything to prove. End of the day neither are convincing but effort goes a long way and Boyce doesn’t seem to care.

Boyce’s attitude is rank rotten.

His ability to score goals is worse. He just looks so clumsy. Couldn’t hit a barn door.

Based on what?

Based on the fact that he is going through the motions and doesn’t look interested? His first penalty he thought he had nothing better to do than kick it toward goal to score. I don’t know where he is mentally but it’s not where it should be.

I’m actually cutting the guy a bit slack. If his attitude isn’t rotten then he’s basically just pish. It’s a poor show when Craig Wighton looks the better option.

Can't believe how shite the guy is. Thought we'd signed a striker worthy of the Jersey for a change but it's easy to see how we managed to get him fairly comfortably.

He doesn’t look confident but to say his attitude is rotten is wrong IMO. He constantly shows for the ball drops back and try’s to link play. I wish he would stay more central but our lack of width means the supply to him is awful. He has missed some sitters and also been unlucky at times. Thankfully he buried the pen at hamden!

Any idea when that might be? I’ll diary it.

Guy is proven,  and even the likes of Aubameyang have a barren spell.

His attitude is absolutely fine if he wasn't getting into position it would be a problem

Is it a case of things are going to get worse with him before they get better?

He’s only scored 1 goal from open play this season. Now he can’t even hit a penalty properly with 2 attempts.

Exactly, the guys got quality but is bang out of  form and consequently low on confidence.

Just needs a brace in one game and he'll be off and running again .

Some clueless halfwits on  here but it's hilarious reading tbf

When his goal comes in open play he will go on a run, he's getting lots of chances just lost the finishing touch at the moment.

Happens to everyone bar Halaand 😂

Exactly, Boyce is having a bad time that’s obvious, maybe lacking confidence at this time, but the guy never ever hides, always shows for the ball, great attitude .

Have absolutely no doubt he will come good and prove the doubters wrong.

Although there is no chance they will admit they got it wrong

Managed an assist.

3 0 up in the pissing rain, job done,  maybe a loss of focus. Game 5 in 12 days worth remembering too for the work shy *****

100%. The questioning of his attitude is mental. His quality shows in every part of his game apart from in front of goal just now. His hold up play is great and he links players in well. Got a great assist tonight and the one good bit of service he did get he won a penalty from. Even turned a cross from deep onto him 16 yards out into a close chance. People may think Wighton is a better option for his scoring form at the moment but Boyce is better in every aspect of his game. Worth persisting with.

best in the land

Overrated and only seems interested in internationals.

Needs dropping.

Should have came off for Wighton, that's how bad he is.

Hearts just don't have a decent striker.

Doesn't look imminent anyway.

Piss poor tonight, not for the first time either.

Boyce is an excellent striker who’s off the boil and probably absolutely knackered from playing 5 games in 2 weeks. Drop him on Saturday and let Wighton have a run. He’s absolutely not crap though, that just isn’t true, he just isn’t scoring at the moment and it’s clearly a monkey on his back he needs to shake.

Have to laugh at the “lazy” “uninterested” cliches coming out though. Every time a player goes out of form it comes out.

I'm hoping he's like Cosgrove at Aberdeen their supporters couldn't stand him at first then when it clicked they love him

Bamford at Leeds is another example. Goes through spurts .

But still a team player why he never gets dropped

At the risk of JKB bingo "there's a player in there" Scored goals regularly in the past at a higher level than this but can't deny he's been largely disappointing for us so far.

The two penalties tonight were both comically bad and he needs a spell on the bench. Never ever thought I'd say this... But if we must have 1 up top it should be Wighton 😂😳

Great pass for the 2nd goal, did well to win the penalty.  The taking of which was awful obviously.

He's got 3 goals in 6 starts this season, including the winner ageist Hibs.   He's not in peak form but he's still contributing

If you can’t see that he’s good a football player then......

it’s his movement, his touch, his ability to hold the ball up, his finishing (usually). when he’s on form he is a very good football player

he is going through a bad spell just now for us, maybe he does need a rest/dropped for a game but I’m confident he will come good, need to back him not slate him. He also brings so much more to the team than goals

Plenty of ‘proven’ strikers have turned up at Hearts only to be a let down. His body language is negative, and imo he has a wee bit attitude that he’s too good for this league.

I’ll forget the reference to Aubameyang 😂

Get kingsley in the penalties

Exactly, he needs a rest this weekend, he must be knackered after all his travels and games! Pressure off the pens will also help.

Spot on.    👍  For some reason, Hearts strikers with a good CV elsewhere struggle to score goals here (apart from Lafferty).      But Boyce certainly doesn't hide - he's still contributing plenty to the team by his running & presence, just not the goals we'd hoped for.   Tonight was frustrating, mainly because we seldom  have any urgency/desire to drive forward when the opportunity arises - too much knocking the ball sideways etc.   Is that Robbie's game plan when we play teams at the bottom of the league ? Or are our players lacking the confidence to go forward in case they lose the ball ?

He was targeted as a proven goal scorer and paid accordingly.

Lucky if he’s had a dozen crosses in his Hearts career to attack, which is where most of his Ross County goals came from. Our wingers, for years cut inside instead of hitting the byline and crossing the ball.

As someone says above our problem is STILL a lack of pace and width without Ginelly.
Roberts put a couple in but most, if not all are too deep.

Robbie’s prerogative as he sees then in training every day but, to me, Boyce looks like he could do with a wee rest.

Aw come on mate - if you had watched all the matches this season you would see that Boyce has had numerous golden chances to score and failed!
