"There's more reason to look at it [league reconstruction] now than there was last season."

Translation: "There's more reason to look at it now that it might benefit us"

>sigh< how do you know he was happy to see other clubs screwed over?

Because relegating Hearts, Thistle and Stranraer after just 30 games during a pandemic, and forcing three clubs alone to take the financial hit instead of spreading it around, was his preferred outcome. That was the option he supported instead of the fairer reconstruction option on the table that didn't lump all the pain on 3 clubs. Now he thinks fairness is important, but nothing has changed. The pandemic is still here.

As he himself said, all clubs are in the same boat. Why should his club or Brechin now be "saved" by reconstruction when he, and Brechin, weren't willing to back that option last time when it would have helped other clubs in the same situation?

At the time were were told we "deserved" it because we were bottom. Surely that then applies to Albion Rovers or whoever is bottom if the league ends early again?

It is the right time for Reconstruction.

Let clubs go bust and teams from the Lowland and Highland leagues can replace them.

It was also the right time in the summer.

Might not have been happy, just indifferent. It seems to matter to some...

It is such a joke that he and others are changing their tune and looking for support, very short memories!

Can you answer my question?

How do know he was happy to see other clubs screwed over?

You said it, there must be some basis for it somewhere

It's an expression Captain Literal.

It's the looking for support bit that grinds my gears in particular. The Aberdeen chairman was on about it that other day, before him Dempster.

If there is any financial support incoming, it should first compensate Hearts, thistle and Stranraer. When those clubs asked for help - not even financial support just solutions that didn't punish teams in a pandemic - they were ignored, and even mocked.

Yes, he was happy to, in the sense that he says nothing to suggest otherwise except talk about buses when the opportunity is there. It suggests as I said above, utter indifference to the plight of others I.e. happy to see it occur. You have to understand the meaning g of happy in this context.

Lord Beni of Gorgie

Would be interesting how many managers agree with their chairman.

Thankfully vaccine will see the season finished this time

All you have types is just absolute garbage.  The context does not change the meaning of the word happy ffs.

You think so?

Happy to see beggars on the street. Never heard that before?

We should only have 2 leagues in Scotland and the clubs have to be full time. They could have play offs but the winner must switch to full time.

I agree, two leagues, full time clubs only, the rest play in regional leagues and have the chance to join the professional leagues, but only if they have the ambition to go fulltime.  I'd extend the rules even further, professional teams in the top 2 divisions play on grass, not plastic.

Great ideas, do you think you have enough free time to run the Spfl and wear the compliance officer roles?

Both jobs crying out for a breath of fresh air and a bit of common sense.

He said he was happy not to have to travel to Brora. You translated that into him being the antichrist and responsible for the whole league reconstruction being thrown out of the window

eh ?

Stop making things up.

Reread my reply to you.

for one, by him saying he was happy not to have to travel to Brora, he is saying he is happy to screw over Brora (and Kelty Hearts) by denying these clubs the chance to join the SPFL as part of reconstruction, as well as part of the pyramid playoff process.”

i never said anything remotely like portraying him as an antichrist and responsible for failing reconstruction.

you are just trumping up things and making fake statements

With all due respect, looking in from the sidelines, it looks like you are just being pedantic for the sake of it.

Unless, of course, you are Brian Reid. 😏

What is an expression?

So when someone tells you to "cool your jets" you turn down the temperature on your built-in jets? And when someone tells you to "get a grip" you immediately hold on to something nearby? "Happy with", "fine with," "satisfied with" all means the same thing - the outcome of no reconstruction last season was Brian Reid's preferred outcome over the other options, ergo he was happy, satisfied or otherwise not distraught that reconstruction was rejected.

Unless it mutates and the vaccine becomes less effective or even completely useless.

Aberdeen chairman said similar earlier today if we go through the season without any fans and restrictions next season but that would be worst case scenario especially with a vaccine on way
