hearts receive the cup in 56

Fond memories of these days when we won the League cup, Scottish Cup and Scottish League regularly.

I will never forget the open top bus coming through our village East Whitburn after the Celtic cup final. At that time there was no M8 motorway and didn't half get up the noses of the Celtic fans in the village. I was fortunate enough to get to the League cup finals against Motherwell, Third Lanark, Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock but my dad wouldn't let me go the Celtic game.

I'm thinking that was round about 1976 ish.  As the cup final 13 are all in that photo. Looking back they look a decent squad. The season after that we beat Leipzig, got to both semis of the cups and then got relegated. ( start of the yo-yo years ) Sold Ralph Callachan which left me distraught ( I never knew he was a hibby back then ). Cammy Fraser in that photo too : we sold him to Dundee a couple or so years later - was decent too after a slow start. Mind Don Murray got a bad injury in the quarter final in 76 and missed the final.

This could've been the last ever game I was at, as my Dad spun the car on the way home nearly wiping us oot.

Awesome photo that. I’d like to get that up in a frame in the house.

The original maybe but that colouring looks absolutely awful.

Think the keeper is a young guy called Wilson, may be wrong.  It's Jimmy Milne not Glidden, with Bobby Kirk, then George Thomson.  It's Ian Crawford not Urquhart.

However why Parker, Kirk and Thomson in same team?

Any idea the year?

That’s August 1970 , a league cup section match v Celtic, Kevin Hegartys debut, he scored, but we inevitably lost

Is that Andy Roxburgh bottom left in the black jacket?

Oldest memory at Tynecastle is 1972.

I do remember Hampden 1968.

But the stanchions were always rounded. Different in the first photo.

When did we switch to rounded.

Gornik, abandoned friendly match?

Doesn't look like Cruiky though, Alan Anderson

I think it’s Valarengan from Norway, Inter Cities Fairs Cup 1965 ?,

Was thinking maybe a couple of yrs later but dont honestly know..Loved those days as a youngster,, it was also a cracking site after the game when thousands upon thousands of Hearts fans  left ER, usually singing merrily away in celebration

Same, after games I used to love looking up Easter Rd and seeing it packed with Hearts fans all the way up to London Rd.

After checking with an old workmate from Deans,it's Scott Gardner.

Correct. Scott never made it to the 1st team played in the reserves inc an East of Scotland Shield win over Hibs. Still follows Hearts. Posts occasionally on here as Deans-Hearts.

Certainly did!

I used to drink in the Deans snooker club as a youngster.

Stevie Dunn was Souness first rangers signing.

I was more interested in Scott Gardner.👍🇱🇻

Scott and Stevie went to school/were friends with my older brother. They were 6yr older than me but I became friends with Scott when I started going on the Livi Hearts bus in 95. I also used to drink in the Snooker club around then as well ha
