I've done enough hunting for this time of night.

When is the Thistle game?

I asked this earlier. Seems we play Spartans this Saturday so must be a week Saturday, the 26th?

Hearts TV is:

Username

Password

You have to register with your address and email. Then you create a username and password.

I think the new system will be different though, and will require you to login using your customer reference number from your season ticket. That’s just a guess though.

Found it. I am assuming it has not changed.

Not yet, but I think it might soon. I’d personally hold off if I was you.

https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/article/club-to-stream-all-home-games-live

International subscribers can continue to subscribe for only £12.99 a month for full Hearts TV access, including live games, while the finishing touches are being made to a PPV option for fans that do not have season tickets.

I don’t know your circumstances, but wouldn’t like to see you sign up for it and pay monthly, then get free access through your season ticket.

I am a season ticket holder.  I can log in under this, but at the moment it invites me to subscribe, so I will hold back.

I’ve been there mate. We had a rented black and white TV set for a few years when I was a kid. Sticking the aerial on top of the yellow pages and phonebook to try and get a signal... then when you finally get a good picture, as soon as you walk away from the set it goes all snowy.

My main issue is I’ve paid a lot of money for my TV. I’ve paid a lot of money for my laptop. Now if I want to watch Hearts games on my TV, I have to have them stream on my laptop, but connect the laptop to the TV. And I’ll likely have to utilise an Ethernet cable to solidify the connection. This is a pain, particularly if I or anyone else in my house wanted to use the laptop during the 2 hours the game. I could of course just watch it on my laptop and not the TV, but I’m not a fan of watching anything on my laptop never mind football.

No idea why you are asking me that, i have no problem with Hearts TV quality. Again i looked at Pixellot and thought that it is impressive. You inform me that Hearts are upgrading the technology. Happy days, thank you for the info.

You literally started a thread questioning Hearts TV quality.

We aren't even buying new cameras or anything like that, QTV will just be doing their usual temp install like they do for every other club in the Premiership. :cornette:

to be fair, we only need the cameras for 90 minutes every couple of weeks - seems a bit indulgent to actually buy them...

Has anybody else had a card swipe machine through the post this morning?

No instructions but it's got an "Only Hearts" badge on it, presume it's to swipe my season card to access games but it's not clear at all.

Would be good to know Hearts reasons for not going with the Pixellot system. They're under pressure to deliver something on par with that given the ST streaming nonsense, otherwise we're being shafted again.

Though if Hearts system is yet to be installed and used then hopefully it'll be better than what the usual stream is like.

It may well be sue to the connectivity providers having better relationships with suppliers like Grass Valley, Vizrt, NEP Visions etc, pixellot aren't anywhere near the biggest player in that market and it may well be a case that we need a bigger connectivity connection than the likes of a Brechin who could broadcast their game to 2 men and a dog using pixellot and a home broadband connection

Investing a considerable sum, suggests we are doing a bit more than that, I would say. Also the mention of there not being TV cameras for most games in the Championship would back this up, no?

All the club are doing are paying for QTV to broadcast/produce the non-televised games as if it was another Premiership game.

The "investment" in cameras is sort of a lie, they're not buying anything, they're temporarily paying for a broadcast production because if they didn't then they'd have to go back to the one camera stream, like it was in the old stand.

For the televised games, this cost will be covered by the SPFL.

ST holders get matchday access only - so I assume until 26th Sept, we can only get the freeview bits of hearts TV.

The £12.99ers get full access 24/7

Okay, that tallies with what Lawrence Broadie said earlier on Twitter, cheers. Sounds like that will give us a much better product to offer the fans than what we would have had though, surely? From what I'm reading, the QTV guys do a decent job.

Possibly.  At risk of starting another debate, that would mean the £12.99ers get more coverage for a much smaller cost.

Of course it would. Could it be that we've taken the SPFL's lead and are making it up as we go along? 🙂

So, I’m already paying a £5.99 subscription for heart’s tv (audio only), do I need to still pay £12.99 to pay per view or £7 on top of my £5.99 or, cancel my £5.99 subscription and go £12.99 ppv.........which all kind of makes sense (to me anyway).  I just don’t want to be faffing around 5 minutes before kickoff with no solution.

Oooh, I've no idea I'm afraid - and I wouldn't like to open that can of worms by even trying to answer!

Still, good that we have a pre-season friendly for us all to get warmed up and used to the new systems - fans and players getting match fit together!

The 12.99 refers to the monthly subs for overseas viewers who get live video. I don't think they have announced the ppv fee yet. I am in the same boat as you, i.e. UK based paying 5.99 a month essentially for audio. It is not clear what we will pay for live video but I am not expecting any significant discount on the one-off ppv fee so it will probably be worth cancelling the 5.99 and buying ppv match to match unless people in our boat want to make a donation.

EDIT - Thinking about it, some of the 5.99 per month probably gets raked off to a TV production company so anyone wanting to write this off as a donation would be better off doing it through FOH to ensure the club gets all the money.

It will be tricky setting the fee, as it probably should be more than what the cost per match, based on what a platinum season ticket works out that, .  That is not to say it will be, as it could work out as quite expensive.   I suspect the existing packages and prices may also need to be looked at, though the announcement does refer to existing prices for International viewers.

You could get a Chromecast on Amazon for £30, and stream the tab on your laptop to the TV.

As long as someone is using another window on the laptop, they'll be able to use it whilst you watch the game on the TV

Goodness, technology is getting way ahead of me. Used to be on top of it all but at some stage it bypasses me and I now have sympathy for my father who struggled to learn how to use the Internet.

Cheers though, will look into it.

It's a possible solution for you anyway, and one that saves you trailing wires between the laptop and TV :)

Basically the Chromecast would go into an HDMI on the back of your TV, and then you connect it to the internet (usually using the Google Home app on your phone).  Then you install the plugin on your browser, and you can send the picture to your TV - it will do it at 1080p HD resolution as well, so don't worry too much about rubbish picture quality.  You can "cast" stuff from your phone as well, so if you could even just have the game on your phone and watch on the TV and don't need to involve the laptop at all.

I used to use it for Sky Sports Mobile TV which cost £9.99 a month to watch the football on your phone and then I cast it to the TV - was a *lot* cheaper than getting a Sky Sports subscription!

Certainly interesting that! Currently looking at Amazon and it’s talking about different apps and things rather than the casting stuff, but I see there’s plenty of YouTube tutorials about it so will have a wee gander. Cheers again!

Assuming the ppv is via a web page, you could use a firestick.  Open the browser in that and log onto the ppv. No need for the laptop at all.

I have been a HeartsTV subscriber for as long as I can remember, I really hope they have the servers to cope with the numbers.

If it is the same company from Livingstone I have my doubts about the speeds but Hearts cannot get this one wrong!

Or get an Amazon Firestick and bypass your laptop altogether.

My Smart TV has a browser built in but when I go to Hearts TV and then hit full screen, there's a sizeable banner running along the bottom taking up a good chunk of the screen. Anyone else tried this?

Never tried a smart TV, but on the firestick I used to get that when I used Firefox. If I used the silk browser it was fine. Are you able to add a different browser to a smart TV?

I've got a Firestick elsewhere so I'll try that but it was a Hearts TV banner, which made me think it wasn't the browser.

I think I'll be ok withSmartView via my phone and - or tablet to my Smart TV, but they are all Samsung.

I tried 'mirroring' Virgin TV Go on my S10 to a Firestick on a non Smart TV and was only able to got audio sound but no picture for premium sports services such as Sky Sports, BT Sport, Premier Sports.

It depends upon which browser you TV uses  It's always been a problem with Hearts TV and Firefox or Amazon Silk because of the picture frames.  I'd have fired the company "providing" the service on this aspect alone.

Neonjambo is the expert on this nonsense.

Hopefully, the new system will get around this issue.
