looks like he's carrying a bit timber plus he doesn't tackle or track back and we'd have the usual posters on his back claiming he's  a wage thief etc etc

If he's greedy, he'll go somewhere like Saudi or China for squillions.  If not, he'll be having a pint with JJ in the 'Diiggers before you can say wee ron.

If he stays in Europe I can only see him ending up at PSG with Neymar and Mbappe. Possibly one of the Milan’s but he’ll want to ensure he keeps winning like Ronaldo has done with Juventus and that’s less likely there.

Man City I reckon.

They can afford his salary.

They're chasing champions league glory.

Messi won't have to learn English. This would be a key factor I think.

£3.4m a year, the biggest earner now is on $7.2m.

He wasn’t. A simple google search says a mere £3.4m a year.

Fair enough, Pasquale.

I was sure that I’d read/heard it was 50 million per year.

I don’t think they have that kind of money, Perry Kitchen plays for them 😜

Or PSG, he wouldn’t have to learn English either and it doesn’t rain every day.

Part of his deal was the opportunity to buy an expansion franchise for £25m when he retired. It’s slowly getting better but it’s still not a great standard, loads of attacking and goals though, which is a refreshing change.

Juve, I don’t think he likes Dybala and he would be sold.

His net worth is £450m so he probably did make a lot from his outside football activities.

Interesting thought.  Maybe the timing is right for Ron and Messi to get together in their latter years within the game?  Trying to think in football history where the two best players of an era have eventually played together after being rivals for most part?

That’s a good question, one I will ponder.

Imagine CR7 and Lionel in the same team?  :scenes:

I can’t think of it happening but it probably has, amazing if it did. Imagine trying to get a ticket to watch them play 😱

Bazzas right boot

Anyone can afford him, he'll be on zero per week soon.

Time to strike while the iron is hot.

Maybe he'll fancy a shorter season, wind down a bit in his older years

Enjoy the countryside, the lochs, cycles.

Time for Robbie to make  a move.

Are Juve not open to the idea of Ronaldo leaving as well.

Anyway Messi has a 700 million release clause so unless there is a dramatic change he will either be staying or retiring.

From where I read it said he had a free transfer clause in his contract.

they won’t want hang onto him if he doesn’t want to stay, if he doesn’t win the contract release (which I think he would tbh given Covid) the will get about £150m to £200m for him

That defence due to covid sadly is not a very strong case.

From messi’s side? I think it is - the clause was clear designed to give him a few weeks after the end of the season to make a decision, the season was extended, the transfer windows were adjusted.. I think it’s bulletproof tbh.

and even if it isn’t, you think Barca would insist on an unhappy Messi staying for a year ? And paying him £45million.. not a chance ! Their season would be over before it’s begun..

no he will go if that is what he wants.

One for the courts then.

Quite possibly. It seems Koeman has told Suarez to sling his hook and Messi isn’t happy with that too. Protests at the offices and Bartomeu might be forced out.

Or he is trying to force the president out and get a new one in as time isn't on his side?

As in a popularity contest there he just shades it.

Love to see him on Hamilton's subuteo pitch at the cheap crap stadium, or whatever it is renamed this year. Just a pity we won't see Darion McKinnon on him.
