Seeing as they both are on 7 points Is it head to head or goal difference?
hopefully Falkirk do the business in the last game anyway

7 points as get one for losing in a penalty shoot out.

A quick look and I think second place in groups B and H will finish ahead of them due to teams in contention still to play each other. If that is right then would only need one other second placed team to get 8 points which seems very very likely.

Sorry my bad LiveScore hadn’t updated, regardless I think they could be out

The H1b5 fans booed Porto when he missed the penalty.  They knew he did it on purpose.

No, only Falkirk can finish above them (well except for Bonnyrigg but it requires them to beat Morton by 11 goals.) At the moment Hibs and Falkirk both have 7 points, so Falkirk only need a draw against Clyde to finish top. Hibs can bizarrely win the group with 7 points if Falkirk lose.

Are you sure. Is it GD or head to head if same points?

Wee Lee Bin magnificent so far!

A dotnut has already called him Jimmy Clitheroe.

A squeaky voiced little Englishman comedian, I believe, back in the day.

It's easy to believe Hibs are making us laugh on purpose, bud.

Group matches
If clubs are level on points at the end of the group stage, the criteria for separating them is 1) goal difference, 2) goals scored, 3) away goals scored, 4) matches won, 5) away matches won, 6) head-to-head record, 7) drawing of lots.

Hibs are top on GD with 7 points and have played all their games. Falkirk need a point from Clyde to top the group. Hibs would then be relying on being one of the best 3 runners up, which might already be impossible (havent checked the groups yet)

Assuming Falkirk get the point they need. Hibs will need 4 other results ALL to go their way to qualify as a runner up

The only way Hibs can get through now is if Falkirk lose at home to a Clyde side who lost 5-0 to Hibs and 2-1 to Bonnyrigg. It seems highly unlikely. That would see them top the group on 7pts which has never been done in any year.

LJ has previous for laying into his teams after shit results. Indeed we heard it after falkirk. Tonight’s interview will be like an Oscar winning speech.  Literally out the cup already. These tickets for the derby will be gold dust when we go to their hole in august.

This mean if Morton beat Bonnyrigg then hibs are oot?

Assuming only the best 3 runners up go through since there’s 5 European sides joining in round 2? Hibs are 2nd on 6 points and played all their games. Surely they’re out

As others said Falkirk win group with a draw no matter penalty shoot out playing Clyde at home. Then Hibs are second with 7 points and plus 7 goal difference.

But in all other 7 groups teams can finish 2nd with more than 7 points. What Hibs need is for all these 7 teams to lose or draw. Explained a bit above already.

In Hibs favour is

Aberdeen v Raith Rovers (2nd)

Arbroath v Airdrie (2nd)

Against Hibs

Hamilton v Queens Park one will finish 2nd on 8 points if draw or 9 if win

Partick or Kilmarnock likely to have more points in 2nd

Dunfermline (2nd 6 points ) v Alloa

St Johnstone (5 points) v Ayr or Elgin v Queen of the South (5 points)

Livingston (6 points) v Kelty

Group H

Queens Park or Hamilton guaranteed 8 pts in 2nd place

Group B

Killie or Stenhouse guaranteed 8 pts in 2nd place

I think we need one other result plus Falkirk not to lose

Yip. Livi home to Kelty with a win, even on pens, being enough for 8 points seems the most likely team to over take them.

A well drilled team comes to Easter Road and gets a result, it's a script we've all read far too often in the past several years and will probably see throughout the season. Slight change in that this is a championship team, in fact it's the second championship team we've played this season and failed to beat.

LJ has a hell of a job on his hands, the senior players at the club have let the last couple managers down over the past 12 months and all the new guys are basically untested (bar Marshall and McGeady) at this level. Morton didn't win in 90 minutes but had enough chances to and squandered several other opportunities to play into some pretty gaping spaces but a final ball let them down, against better teams we will be punished.

Hibs for all their huffing and puffing we lacked quality all over the park really, but in the final third especially where Doidge continues to look uninterested and Melkersen doesn't look ready. Out of the league cup at the first round of asking is never good enough and hopefully this will convince the board and management to make the personnel changes that are required - move on some players and bring in some quality.

The alarm bells began to ring at Falkirk and just got a bit louder tonight.

Just wait till how loud those alarm bells get when he realises Falkirk are a League One side not Championship.

He never recovered from arguing back at our support in a League Cup semi at Easter Road. I was near a fan that was ready to kill him that night.

Agent Johnson hasn’t taken long to get down to work.

Not that ensuring a cesspit continues to look and smell like a cesspit involves a whole lot of work, I suppose.
