The thing about the red is that it makes it a double punishment. Potentially lose a goal and lose a man at the same time. Which luckily it wasn’t as Tavernier made an arse of it.

What's with the poncey run ups when taking a penalty.

Tavernier was like a diver as he is about dive off the board to do somersaults

Never a penalty. Never a red card.
I don’t give a **** who wins the league. Just wanted to watch what was hopefully going to be a decent game of football

FIFA removed intent a few years ago.

Doesn't matter if he meant it.

Definite penalty. Clear red card.

Laws of the game.

I thought they done away with Straight reds for last man challenges if a penalty was given...or have I made that up! 😀

I’m sure I’ve seen yellows given down south and the commentator talking about changing the rules to avoid double jeopardy.

Correct as it was not a deliberate foul in the box.

It was a clear penalty , I don’t think you will find anyone who disagrees  in all honesty, it was “maybe” a yellow instead of a red.. also Curtis main should 100% be off.

you don’t care who wins the league? That hooped scum and their 8.78. IAR is the reason we were “voted” out.. I can’t even write the things I’d like to happen to them.

Yes.

But can still be a red. Confirms ref thought it was deliberate.

The Main and Hedges incidents just show how daft the rules are in modern day football. Main could have broken Barisic's leg=Yellow.

Hedges accidentally catches Morelos's heel. Penalty awarded and Red carded.

How has it been ruined by the ref???

You will not see a more straightforward penalty and red card decision!!

I saw one in the recent cup final, but somehow Beaton and two others missed it. Luckily Hawkeye saved their blushes.

If Aberdeen are happy where they are, fair enough.

Game not over of course. But yet again not at the races against a better team.

Let’s not kid ourselves we would all be happy to have been where Aberdeen are over the last 3/4 years.

For me it was a penalty but a yellow card.

however Mains was a straight red all day long

our refs are just rubbish if not corrupt.

Delighted that Celtics 9.75 in a row is closer to disappearing

That was a goal though?!? You can’t give a penalty and send someone off and also award the goal!!

It’s a red if the ref considers there was no attempt to play the ball and just a yellow if there is a a foul but some attempt to win the ball.

In this case he hasn’t tried to play the ball. Tried to disguise the foul and make it look accidental but knew fine what he was doing IMO

Red card and penalty.

agreed, he thinks about a wee pull.. the player know 100% there is zero possibility he can get around and make a fair challenge.. he knows what he’s doing, he “hoping” for an accidental clip and the possibility of getting away with it..

aberdeen should be down to 9.

What John is saying, is that it was a penalty and a red card we wouldn’t have got as the ref was playing on until his watch shamed him into giving a goal.

Might have been a better outcome for us getting the penalty and them down to 10 men now I think about it.

The law is ‘DELIBERATELY denying a goal scoring opportunity with no attempt to play the ball’

So Beatons only decision to make was did Hedges mean to trip him or was it an accident? He obviously thought it was deliberate. Think he got it wrong tbh.

But I want Rangers to wrap the league up ASAP so **** Hedges and Aberdeen.

It wasnt a goal until Beaton got the bleep on his watch. Which came as he was running back to the halway line ready to take up position for a Celtic bye kick.

Main would have been a straight red if the ref hadn't already sent Hedges off.

Correct.

It was a goal. All THREE officials missed that so the next thing that should’ve happened was a red card and penalty. Again all THREE officials were giving nothing until the watch buzzed. This time last year it would’ve been a goal kick to Celtic and an ‘aw well, some you get some you don’t’ from the twats commentating.

Not really. Just shows the referees for incompetence. That main challenge is a red any way you look at it and beaton has bottled it.
