Beer gardens......

Looking like decent weather at the weekend so wondering where will be the best place to have a few drinks and a bit of food, preferably somewhere pretty central. Tried The Black Ivy in Bruntsfield but they are fully booked. Somewhere similar would be ideal.

We were in the Blackbird, Leven St, on Monday and they serve food as well. Good set up but a little slow with drinks at first until they got organised. Gave us free shots so that made up for it.

Son was also in the Pear Tree but it was more expensive and sounded a bit faffy getting a drink / using the loo.

South Queensferry is a good venue for a quiet drink and eating out.

Looking forward to my golf club being able to serve pints and food again. Will be quite limited at first and ordered via an app while on the course but sounds a better way of doing it anyway.

At least you don’t have to book, to get a beer or nine, Harold!

Good thinking

Colinton Inn, mate. But think the slots are being snapped up quickly.  👍🏻

I mind around 28 years ago some hapless young squadie landing in that beer garden after exiting through the large window leg-and-a-wing style on account of a disagreement over a game of pool.

As my other half is still shielding the only beer garden I’ll get near, until August at least, is the one outside my back door. At least the drinks chiller is well stocked. 🍷🍸🍺

😁I’ve heard that’s a favourite manoeuvre of you Oxgangs boys.

It was tried out on some vermin 30 odd years ago on Lothian Road.😉

Read about the beer garden at the corn exchange, looked good with seating for 200.

Also learned what vertical drinking was.

One of, if not the best, bars in the West End.

I miss places like that so much.

Agreed. Better when it was just the small bar.

Local beer garden in Belhaven this afternoon for me. Blue Moon on tap and a 2 hour ticking clock. Lovely.

Couldn't be arsed in the end. Too much faffing about with 2 hour slots. Just as you are settled for the day you're getting hoyed. Will wait till next weekend when it should be more relaxed.

Two hour slots must be a pain in a beer garden where, if the weather is decent, you tend to stay for a good while.
