****.... Missed the whole game. This is a bit of a tanking.

I think Eddie Howes done a great job tbf. Their squad is too small and injuries have hampered them.

For a team fighting at the bottom of the table, they haven't put up much fight especially at home.

Aye they’ve fallen to absolute shit though.

The irony of Steve Bruce doing the best job in his managerial career and getting punted at the end of their season too

Fair point too.  We’re a bigger club than them also.

Possibly just been there to long.

He probably should have moved on to a bigger club by now but his career could end up going the other way.

Correct.  He should still get an Aston Villa or even Newcastle regardless.

Think it always stuck in Howes mind he left early the first time around.

Done a good job up until this season. Some honking transfers last summer though and he still plays guys like Steve Cook who I wouldn't take in a Sunday Amateur team!

He did that already and went to Burnley (couldn't have went to a worse club in fairness).

Ross Wallace said on Open Goal that he couldn't deal with the senior players in the dressing room at the time.

It feels like it’s gone stale though. Howe looks permanently beaten and you can sense people getting tired of him. Shame, really, but was always going to happen

Defo gone stale. Doesn't seem to have a plan B either. Sometimes you just need to be tough at that level like Sean Dyches Burnley. They're too easy to beat.

They were doomed once Fraser said he wouldn't extend his contract. Demoralising! They will struggle big time financially as rely mainly on Tv money

Feels like Stoke a few years ago. A team gets promoted, does much better than many expect, becomes a regular EPL team for a few years then hit a bad season that relegated them.

As Fraser has gone from them the only reason for me wanting to stay up has gone.

This. There are so many teams who have been in that position - Stoke and Huddersfield who were relegated last season and are near the bottom of the Championship. That's my worry for Palace - one bad season and you can drop like a stone.

the finish by almiron was good for the third newcastle goal

About time tbf

it's a testament to the job done by Steve Bruce that he's kept Newcastle up with 6/7 games to go when £40m Joelinton has 2 league goals for the season and Almiron who cost 21m has 3 goals and 2 assists.

I've been wanting to go since they were promoted. My son's been twice and said it's excellent. Small ground and only a small away allocation though.

As another poster said they have been punching well above their weight for years now; somehow managing to survive in the Prem with an 11,000 capacity ground. Their time has come and gone now, wonder where Eddie Howe will end up?   HHGH. Terry.

Good. Zero time for teams like Bournemouth

Bit harsh! A team like them with a small ground and support have done exceptionally well to stay in the Premier as long as they have. There will have been many much bigger clubs in the lower leagues quite jealous of them. Eddie Howe has done a remarkable job over these years, maybe it has gone a bit stale now though, it happens. You can end up in a bit of a rut if things aren't freshened up. Probably should've moved on a year or so ago.

Joelinton leads the line well but is possibly the worst finisher ive ever seen.

Out of interest, why?

They've been punching above their weight for the size of club they are, but they were there on footballing merit and I'm not aware that they got all Billy Big Balls about it.

I don't see anything to dislike.

Mainly just because I’m bitter. I’ve nothing against Bournemouth in truth, they just sum up the culture of commercialisation in football. They have a stadium the size of McDiarmid Park but spend £80k a week on players and £20million on players like Solanke.

Their fans (albeit on social media) refer to Scottish football as tinpot (hard to argue against at the moment!!) and look down their noses at clubs yet they’ve done feck all in their history. The biggest achievement is avoiding relegation out of the the premier league. No ambition to win things. A perfect example

of money ruining football and as others have said will probably be out the box in a few years if they don’t come back up.

I see Eddie howe is blaming lockdown and no fans in stadiums affecting his team and results.  Wouldnt disagree it must have some effect on the players, especislly if you are the home team and used to a partisan crowd. Problem when using that as an excuse is that its the same for every team that takes the field just now. I think things are looking a bit ominous for them on the relegation front

So many "clubs" in English football who's only ambition is mediocrity. Prime example being Newcastle.

Agree entirely with this but the bit in bold the most. Imagine having never experienced the final whistle in a cup final and the celebrations afterwards or the cup being brought home, or the Sunday parade.

Being able to spend multi millions on average players will never compare to the emotions of winning a national cup.

Spot on about winning a trophy. My son is a Palace fanatic but has also been brought up to follow Hearts. Took him to the 5-1 Final and he saw all the emotions and celebrations. He's said a number of times how he wants to experience that feeling for Palace (FA Cup or League Cup). We were at the 2016 FA Cup Final (2-1 defeat by Man Utd) which is the nearest he got. I hope he experiences it in my lifetime as would like to see his reaction. Keep telling him nothing will top 19th May 2012 though!

There is a mentality of many down south that they'd rather see their team finish 4th in the league than win a trophy. They see lining up against BATE Boresov, Cluj and Macabbi Haifa as a better anecdote to tell the grandkids.

For me, Eddie Howe and Bournemouth have dined off some good years for a bit too long. Their business model in comparison to other 'selling clubs' has been poor. They could've sold and re--invested huge fees for the likes of Fraser, Wilson, King but have missed the boat on all optimum fees. Also, when you look at their signing record in the last few years, they've spent some awful money. Solanke, Ibe, Danjuma, Lerma have all been expensive as well as some very pricey loans like Clyne and Iturbe. Howe kept getting linked to some big jobs but Im not sure he's yet proved he can hande a transfer budget.

Also did a quiz on the BBC website the other day about all teams to have played in an FA Cup QF this century and they didn't feature. Given some of the teams they did, that's pretty poor.

Still amazed that Fraser left and did not renew his contract temporarily  till the end of the season. What would the reasoning behind that be?

afraid of getting injured. he might also have a transfer already arranged so would not want to jeopardise that

Howe's record in the transfer market is awful. Solanke, Ibe and various other 8 figure outlays on players who have struggled to get a regular game. They are still using the bones of the team that got them promoted (Francis, Cook, Daniels, Gosling, Surman, Smith, Stanislas, WIlson) because he has been so dreadful in recruiting upgrades.

It's Norwich, B'mouth plus one for the drop, which I reckon will be Villa. So hard to come up and then stay up in the Prem. Cardiff have only managed one season stints then relegated back to Championship. Makes you wonder why we crave promotion when the chase to get there is better than actually being there.
