Dame Vera Lynn

103.

Tragedy, no age, taken far too young etc.

Both her and Glenn Miller defined an age which even now when you hear the music is still emotive.

Crazy to think there are still a few folk kicking around who were born during WWI.

Looks like we won't meet again after all.

Pity, she could've released it again soon when WW3 kicks off.

She was certainly a morale booster during the war. I cannot remember  her ever using her popularity for self gain, a very good person.

Carl Fredrickson

From a generation when so many stars had a lot of dignity. My mum and dad were very fond of her.

Watching the news with my10 year old son. They announce that Very Lynn has died aged 103, my son asked what did she die of?

Fantastic person who did some great work for children's charities. Helped a lot of kids with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.

Olivia de Havilland is still kicking about at 103.

I wonder how many horny soldiers took comfort in her support 🥰

Apparently soldiers prefered Anne Shelton who was a bit more saucey in her singing during the war.  Vera you could take home to your mum whereas Anne ...well....the best wartime song is " Lili Marlene" sang by the stunning Dietrich.
